11 Ways to Save at HomeGoods Every Time You Shop

When it comes to finding discounted items to zhoosh up your home in style, HomeGoods has your back.

The store sells furniture, linens, cooking products, art and other home accessories, which are typically discounted compared to other stores. The selection varies by location and by the day — no two stores have exactly the same things. You can buy their home decor online, too, and who among us doesn’t love a good bargain for your casa?

Whether you cash in on HomeGoods free shipping, use rewards points from their TJX Rewards card or find a good ol’ fashioned find, there are plenty of ways to save – and it’s no wonder why this institution has a dedicated cult-like following. Simply type #gofinding in Instagram and you’ll instantly see gorgeous items posted by countless passionate HomeGoods shoppers.

Here are 11 ways to save at HomeGoods every time you shop:

1. Get A TJX Rewards Card

When you open a TJX Rewards card, you’ll get 10% off your in-store purchase that day. So, if you have some big-ticket items in mind like furniture and bedding, identify what you want to buy on the same day. Open that platinum store Mastercard and voila! Immediately make those purchases because in HomeGoods if you don’t buy it when you see it, it’ll probably be going, going, gone soon enough.

In addition to the first-time discount, as a card holder, you’ll get 5% back in rewards when you shop at their family of stores. This includes T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra and Homesense. So, as you can imagine, those rewards can rack up pretty fast every time you use your TJX Rewards card.

As an extra bonus of being a cardholder, you’ll receive online notifications of exclusive shopping events in the store and online.

2. Earn TJX Rewards Points

Speaking of rewards, here’s how they work: Every time you use your TJX Rewards card in HomeGoods or their online store to pay for your items, you’ll earn five points for every dollar spent. (The same card can be used in its sister stores, too.)

For every 1,000 points earned (equivalent to $200 spent), you’ll get a $10 rewards certificate that is eligible for redemption on purchases in the store or online. They’ll expire in two years, but something tells us you’ll be cashing in those rewards much sooner than that.

To redeem your reward certificate online, upon checkout, enter the 19-digit certificate number and four-digit CSC number. 3. Get HomeGoods Free Shipping

When you shop online, you can cash in on HomeGoods free shipping once you spend $119. Simply enter the shipping code, and shipping’s on them.

Shopping online at HomeGoods requires the same mindset of shopping in the store. You’ll need to be in the moment to purchase since, if you go back in a day or two, it probably won’t be there. So if you add something to your online cart and want to revisit it later, it may sellout. Your best strategy is to add your items at once and pay at the moment, saving on shipping if your total exceeds their shipping amount. Once you factor in the time and gasoline saved by not visiting the store, that’s even more moolah.

4. Tap Into A HomeGoods Employee Discount

Looking for a new job while simultaneously seeking perks? HomeGoods provides employees with a 10% discount — this also applies to the sister stores of T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra and Homesense. Occasionally, employees get a 20% discount.

If you don’t work there you clearly won’t be eligible for the discount. (Sounds pretty tempting to us – like being a little kid in the candy store! Except replace candy with plush, gorgeous, colorful items.)

5. Shop The HomeGoods Clearance Section

Whether you’re looking for a super comfy comforter or stainless steel knife block set, you can save even more by shopping rock bottom prices in the HomeGoods clearance section. Just look for the red signs in the store and in that vicinity you’ll find  red-tagged items.

Upcoming seasonal items won’t be in the clearance section, but you’ll most likely find decor for holidays that just passed. For instance, plan on getting great discounts on Halloween items in early November. You can rely on the HomeGoods clearance section to stock up on seasonal items a year in advance and other incredible pieces for your home.

6. Ask For a Discount On Damaged Items

Chips and cracks occasionally happen and when they do, we see dollar signs in savings. If you’re walking by patio furniture and you notice a small dent on the table, ask yourself if you can cover it with a little paint or heck, even a plant? Is the damage inconspicuous or can you cover it up in some way? Or does it perhaps not even bother you? While some damaged items are definitely not worth pursuing, use your keen eye and judgment to make the distinction.

If something you fall head over heels for is slightly damaged, and there’s not an additional discount, go ahead and ask — don’t be shy. You may very well get it.

7. Download the TJX App

Want to save time and mileage and still access their fabulous finds? Download the HomeGoods app. You can literally get a glance into the latest arrivals by locations — genius!

The app also allows you to store your gift cards, manage your TJX Rewards credit card and access and redeem those coveted rewards points. So, basically we’re wondering why anyone wouldn’t download the app. (Not app shaming here, but still… what are you waiting for?)

8. Keep Your HomeGoods Receipts

Let’s say you buy a gorgeous velvet turquoise ottoman and when you get home, you realize unfortunately the shade is a bit off from your couch. (Sad trombone.)

When you go to return it, simply show your receipt within 30 days to get your full refund. If you return it after 30 days, you’ll get store credit for the full amount you paid. The same return policy applies for items purchased online that you return in the store. You can also return online purchases by mailing them back within 30 days.

If you misplaced your receipt, that’s another story. You’ll get credit for the amount the item is priced at the time of your return instead of the point of your purchase. If it’s on sale now for $30, then that’s the amount you’ll get back in store credit even if the original purchase price was $50.

When something is marked down and you don’t have proof of what you paid for it, you’ll lose out on some money. This could add up quickly, so be sure to retain those receipts.

9. Buy A Discounted HomeGoods Gift Card

Yes, this is as simple as it sounds. Scoring a discounted gift card to HomeGoods is definitely feasible through sites like CardBear where you can typically save around five to 10% off.

10. Search For HomeGoods Coupons

In addition to sales, promotions and discounts throughout the year (on top of the clearance section), let’s not overlook HomeGoods coupons

11. Avoid Shopping On Weekends

Cruising to your local HomeGoods store? You might want to avoid it on weekends when it’s super crowded. Odds are, all the delicious treasures have already been bought or picked over. To avoid crowds and get first dibs on deliveries, aim to go during a weekday instead.
