Disappointing.

Disappointing.
Editing and mastering decisions compromised a good compilation. I still have the 1989 CD (AJK Music A799-2, image attached) of the 1978 album, and that's the one I listen to.

Having been a Marshall Tucker fan since the early 70s, I pretty much own everything they have put out including this Greatest Hits cd. I purchased this CD to continue my support of one of the best Southern Rock bands in my opinion. I first saw them open for the Allman Brothers Band back in the early 70s, a show I will never forget, and get this, the ticket was $7.

This collection is the best hits CD for them so far. A great selection of some of their finest work, great art work and over all a great sample of the band for both the long time fan and new person. The only thing I am not crazy about is the new mix. The cd sounds like it would if you were listening to an FM radio station, which, and I worked in radio, one thing they like to do is compress the music and then blast it. The dynamic range is missing and everything is in your face. It's not a bad thing, I just prefer the original sound. It's a small thing but must be noted. I use this cd to play in my car when I'm Jonesin' for some Tucker.

Overall this is a great CD and worth every penny.

One of the first concerts I ever attended was in 1974, The Marshall Tucker Band opened for Jefferson Starship! Ever since I heard the band play "Can't You See" I have been a fan! This CD is an awesome and definitive collection of MTBs best songs. If you are a fan as I am, you must own this CD. If you are unacquainted with MTB this CD is the perfect and economical opportunity to enjoy some of the finest music ever performed!

I didn't know what was missing in my life until I popped this CD into my stereo system. Some 20 years ago the air waves carried this CW/Rock cross over sound; Pure Prairie League, Flying Burrito Brothers, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, etc. The band certainly works their western theme with a great mix of flute, fiddle and the lost sound of the Pedal Steel Guitar. Great vocals and fun tunes that gets me singing along with nearly every song. The album is mixed well and has great stereo separation. I would buy it again!

I thought Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson) was the only Rock group with a flautist featured in many of their songs. I was very pleasantly surprised when I heard them on a classic pop FM station. I was more than pleased when I played this album start to finish and discovered their unique sound. I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys Southern or Swamp Rock at its best!

If you want what the Marshall Tucker Band was all about, then this is the collection! Sure, they had a Greatest Hits earlier on, but, this expands so much and it gives you what you were missing that first time. Even if you only like 3 of the songs, you'll be glad you experienced this great collection. It will probably be the one album from the band that will never fade.

If you are not familiar with the Marshal Tucker Band, I would suggest you try this. I remember them from the seventies (yes, I am that old) and they have a distinctive sound. Really no one else did what they do. Treat yourself, the price is very reasonable.

I loved their first 3 albums but sort of lost track of them after that. This has most of the songs I love and a brief intro to the "newer" stuff
