The best time to visit is Springtime, everything is in bloom, citrus, all the flowers. This is Florida, we have no bad time to visit. The historic house gives a super look into a period of our past. The gardens of roses and tropical plants; now has "Ribbit". This exhibit is 22 artistic frog sculptures created by A.J. Cobb. They are scattered throughout the gardens, children are then given a tour and class on amphibians. Cost $10.
We had a great time here. There were five of us with varying interests. I particularly loved the kitchen garden and the citrus grove. My brother liked finding out about the flora and plants which will thrive around his new FLA home. We all loved the Ribbit Exhibit, and had fun taking photos of and with the frog sculptures. The home tour was great as were all the gardens and paths. Definitely an enjoyable day despite the raw weather. We plan on going back when the weather is better and spending more time here.
Spent the morning on the boat ride around the lakes of Winter Park and the a very pleasant afternoon in the warm autumnal sun in the gardens (and the roses were in good order) and an interesting conducted tour of the historic house.
Recommended for a quiet afternoon interlude between rushing around in theme parks!
Amazing... wear comfortable walking shoes, pack a picnic and bring a camera. We have been several times.
What a joy it was to visit this garden from the frigid north in the middle of February. It is a well-balanced and diverse garden. The rose, camelia and citrus gardens were specially nice. Take the home tour also, it is interesting.
Gardens relaxing and very well maintained!
Enjoyed the variety of roses and butterflies.
Serene tropical gardens.
