Sketches of his time as a WWI Army Artillery Officer, by Rutland’s John Pixley Clement (1893-1968). Top left and bottom right portray his convoy approaching the English coast.  The other two are scenes from his time in France.  See Rutland Historical Quarterly XXVII No. 4 (1997) for Clement’s impressions of the war from his personal notebooks, which were donated to the Historical Society along with 18 sketches.
