This trail is primarily used by off-road drivers. There are a couple of spots you you need more than stock clearance and rear lockers are helpful. Halfway through there’s a nice V’d rock drop that plays with your mind more than your rig. All in all very fun moderate trail which can be made more difficult if you want it to be. This will also drop you into John Bull. Scenic views of Big Bear Lake and you end up in Holcomb Valley, which is great for camping.

This hike is on a dirt road, rather than a traditional "trail". The Serrano Indians revered a megalith of brilliant white quartz called “God’s Eye” as the eye of their creator, “Kruktat.” In the 1850s the Serrano were brutally chased out of their Big Bear Valley homelands by ranchers angry at attacks. This left God’s Eye exposed, and when the California Gold Rush brought miners, they dynamited the sacred site in a fruitless search for gold. The Eye of God once projected possibly dozens of...

Climb difficult boulder fields to camp spots with views above 8,000 feet. Considered the toughest trail in the Big Bear area. The tough part is fairly short. Hike a short distance for views of Lucerne Valley. Forest Adventure Pass required if you stop to recreate. For latest information on this trail, contact the Big Bear Ranger Station and Discovery Center of the San Bernardino National Forest at (909) 382-2790. Large boulders and steep climbs. Lockers and very high ground clearance...

Gold Mountain Trail
A very fun and scenic off road trail. It’s very rocky with just a few challenging obstacles. The gate keeper was easily the most difficult for me. I completed the trail in an 03 Wrangler TJ with a 2.5 inch lift, 31 inch tires, and open diffs. If someone can complete the gate keeper with less than that I want to meet them and learn how they make vehicles fly.
