Great for families, even with small children. Very informative guide walks you through talking about the formations and history and answering questions. Easy walk-though, perfect length- not too long or short, interesting structures and history, overall a great place to go.. especially on rainy days when the family has cabin fever!
We stayed at the campground at Racoon Mountain and decided to check out the caverns. The entrance is a little run down, an old gondola ride from the 80's but we were pleasantly surprised with the tour. Our group was only 5 people and our guide did a great job explaining the details of the cave. We enjoyed it much more than Ruby Falls.
Eight members of our hiking club did the shorter Canyon Crawl experience because some were not sure about being underground. When it was over 100% wanted to come back for a longer crawl and have been talking it up to other members for a return trip. We will be back.
I really enjoy my time here. Lots of things to do and a great place to visit with friends and family will return soon
My girlfriend and I did the 'gypsum crawl wild cave adventure' a year ago and had such a great experience that we brought ourselves and 6 other friends back to go caving again on 12/30/18. We did the waterfall dome adventure this time, because we didn't think our friends would be up for the intensive crawl portion and it was fantastic! All of us, except one person who became uncomfortable with the close spaces, had an extremely enjoyable time and said we would be more likely to go caving again in the future. If you are in to trying something new, adventurous, and physical challenging then give it a shot.
Also the price was very reasonable for the length of time and content of the adventure.
So, my extended family and I stayed the weekend at Raccoon Mountain in there cabins (which where great by the way). It was all of our first times going on a wild cave tour. I had my son who was 9 with us also. Him and I were nervous. All I can say is that everyone should try this! Our tour guide Justin was very knowledgeable and fun. We enjoyed every minute of it and was sad it ended. We are definitely planning a trip back to go on the experienced tour next!!
