Enjoy this 26.8-mile point-to-point trail near Fawnskin, California. Generally considered an easy route. This is a very popular area for camping and off-road driving, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are April through August. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.

- A LOT OF PUDDLES - SUPER MUDDY Hesitate driving through a lot of them ended up turning back around because of the size and depth of the puddles went a little past the cabin then had to turn around. Unless you’re going with a large I wouldn’t risk it. Be aware of barbed wire on the ground too!
Okay this is my second time I did this trail. I think this app added another 10 miles or something because when I first did it in August it was 16 miles and now it was 26 miles. Even though it was longer it was still fun. For the most part it’s easy for beginners or trucks with stock suspension but it gets tricky on a few parts the last 3-4 miles hella rocky. There is one rock sticking out that I hit but luckily I had my skid plate! Either than that enjoy the ride. Do the staging point to rest.
We had so much fun in the winter doing this stretch in the snow we just had to come back for Summer Time fun. It is a fairly mild 4 Wheeling adventure, but you can try a few obstacles and here they are: For my FULL TRIP REPORT with video, pics, story and info please cut and paste in your browser: https://offroadpursuingbalancethruadventure.wordpress.com/2023/08/13/holcomb-valley-ohv-trails-revisted/
I didn't see any reviews since the Major Snowfall and state of emergency in the San Bernardino Mountains. We were cursing around Big Bear with family and I decided to go to just check it out and see how far we could go without getting in too much trouble! The first mile or two has been plowed. It's beautiful out there. There is snow everywhere but on the road. Then you will encounter lots of Mud and Slush and a sign that says "The rest of the trail has not been maintained" I was the only truck on the road and decided to head back and head out another time organized with multiple vehicles . Bring CB radio or whatever communications you use (No Cell) as you will have zero signal. Bring recovery gear and be prepared to air down and air up on return. 23 Bronco, Badlands, 35" Wheels, 3" lift,

Was a really easy trail with lots of cool historical landmarks to discover (hangman’s tree, Holcombs grave, and few old houses that were built in the mid 1800’s). Hit some good mud spots and didn’t need to engage 4wd the entire time. Ran it in a Jeep Wrangler with 35in mud terrain Toyo tires.
Beautiful morning, there were several dozen folks out having fun. A few mud spots still left to play in. Generally easy route. A few spots get moderately rough. Only used 4H on those gravelly downhill spots just to feel better about it. Took my time, probably a little over an hr and a half. May stay at Holcomb campgrounds some time. Will do again and again. Many side shoots to explore.
Hit this trail first week of September, drove a 2015 Ram 1500 with stock suspension, 17 inch method wheels and 33 inch General grabbers. Ran the tires at 25psi just for a smoother ride. Trail was nice, nothing technical, and plenty of side trails to explore. Plenty of trees and good campsites if you’re willing to look around. Will definitely be back.
