Highly recommend taking a tour with this site, so you have some background context to the house and life of Frida Kahlo. Trust, it will impact the way you take in the house! Exhibits are well done and powerful. The location, in the neighborhood of Coyoacán, is spectacular. There’s a lot of food, artisans, and monuments to explore in this area - you could spend the whole day checking out various markets and sites!

El Zocalo is also known as Plaza de la Constitución, and is a must-see when you visit. It is bordered by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National Palace, Federal District buildings, and the Old Portal de Mercaderes. It is considered the main square in the city. In the center is a glorious, gigantic Mexican flag, and the square is a gathering place for Mexicans. Many celebrations and parades are held here and have been held here for centuries, as it dates back to the 16th century. We enjoyed getting photos, as this is definitely an important landmark in the city. Highly recommend as a must-see in Mexico City.

Another of Diego Rivera's absolutely beautiful murals of Mexicos history. This mural also comes with a dramatic history! This place is worth a visit.

Polanco is a centrally located district in Mexico City that features many nice hotels, restaurants, shops & homes. The area is safe and is a great place for walks. Though in the heart of the city there are some small parks as well as a larger one across The Reforma.

We went today and took the metro from Zocalo Station. Cost was 8 p per person for the ride. It was an adventure, very busy, but then so is everything in CDMX. We chartered our own barge, 4 people for $1000 p for 45 min. Could have been up to 20 people for the same price. 45 min was plenty. It was fun but that was long enough. There were sellers of drinks and food on shore and on barges. Lots of shouting, Mariachis on barges. I’m glad we did it but won’t go again.

Definitely go in the late afternoon, there are lots of people leisurely strolling, spending time with friends and family. There will also likely be crowds gathered around street performers adding a wonderful layer to the cultural experience.

At one time, THE place to go in Mexico City for nightlife. Now there are many areas to explore including chic Polanco, hipster Roma or laid back Coyoacan. It does have its seedy side with a number of strip clubs but it is certainly not the decrepit area it became in the 80s. Our hotel Galleria Plaza Reforma was located here, and we found fun bars and good restaurants nearby and felt safe walking the streets.

Very cool area for a Saturday walk. Plenty of artisanal shops, souvenirs, and just nice handicrafts. Plenty of bars and cafes to get a bite if tired.

Extensive ruins. Larger than Plaza Mayor. If there is a museum, we could not find it. We’ve been there at times when more paths were open. The signage is good. It is hard to imagine that a second city was located on the same island as Tenochtotitlan. There were not many people there while we were there. Not incredibly easy to find.

Scenic lake in Chapultepec Park and vibrant area. Many locals were enjoying the day passing the time away hanging out around the lake or renting paddle boats

Great restaurants, designer stores, walking is easy with coffee shops along the way.
I was there during Christmas but it is a beautiful area to visit anytime of year.
It is also easy to catch a cab to visit museums and sites.

The reason for a three star instead of a one is the mariachi in the plaza. They were entertaining and offered to play music at a decent price. The rest of the experience was poor. There are individuals offering to take you into restaurants where they imitate singers such as Vicente Fernandez and Jenny Rivera. The shows themselves are decent but everyone from the individual guiding you to the staff of the restaurants are shady. They reel you in saying there is no compromise for watching the show. False. My partner and I ordered 3 drinks (at the price of a bottle in store) and 3 tacos. We ordered one margarita, and two Pina coladas. The margarita was really one shot with a bit of fruit syrup and the Pina colada had more than enough ice so that you were getting more ice than drink. .The bill came out to 599 pesos. However, they added a hidden 50 pesos per person fee for entertainment and 200 pesos of "taxes". The waiter said the taxes were due to a 16% tax. Also false, 200 of 699 is not 16%. The price itself is not what was most concerning its the fact that they lied about the cost and charge whatever they want. If you plan on going to this plaza do it for the mariachi. If you plan on going into the restaurant be mindful that everyone will lie to you to get the most money out of you.
