This temple has been built 35 years ago.Once inside the temple one would feel like we are in India. For those who are religiously inclined will surely like it.If you will have to go this place from NJ the travel time to this place in Queens will take along time-By train at least 3 hours.By car 2hrs.

But the Journey will be worth it.

One of oldest temples and probably only temple (at one point) in New York City. The main idol in this temple is Ganesha. There is also a room which sells some great Indian snacks. This temple is considered as one of the oldest temples in USA.

Sometimes my son and I stopped by, although we are not Hindus. You need to take off your shoes to get inside the temple, where there are many deities inside. The temple seems to be under renovation all the time. It look greats and the atmosphere is quiet. My son likes to light a small cup of oil. The canteen in the basement is open almost all the time, and it is big and rather empty. It offers simple and authentic Indian food. My son likes Mango lassi there, which costs $1.5.

The temple's architecture is nice, and the priests seem to do a nice job during the pooja. The behavior of those at the counter are unacceptable, and unwelcoming. They seem to care more about the money given by the guests than the providing a peaceful, holy place for worship.

It's suppose to be religious and cultural setting, not a business establishment with.

Ganesha temple in Flushing New York has more to offer than it looks from outside. Very Peaceful and calm houses a traditional Ganesha murti along with many other idols of Goddess and God. It was a beautiful visit for us on a very cold day. Very close to traditions and Hindu faith. I have to mention the Temple Canteen, which serves absolutely delicious vegetarian food in a Udupi style. You can have absolutely lip-smacking dosa and idiyappam. If in that area, it is a must recommended visit, if you want to know about the Hindu faith.

This is a temple complex. The main central idol is Ganesha. The four corners have Balaji, Padmavathi on one side and Eshwara, parvati and kartikeya on another side .
Hanuman temple is also there. This caters to all sorts of likings.

On both sides bronze statues of various gods and goddess are placed.

The place is neat and clean .

For visitors to NY city who are open minded to taste and experience a spiritual and holy place, I would recommend the Hindu temple in Flushing. It is easy to reach by public transport. Takes an hour from Times Sq.
- you will learn a bit about the Hindu way of celebrating and praying.
- feel free to talk and ask questions of any devotee or contact the folks in the office
- there are a lot of tales on each of the goddesses n gods U will see there. Enquire if U have time.
- do not fail to taste the food in the temple restaurant.
It is clearly the best vegetarian food you can get in NY! And is on par with the best you will get in Chennai/ India.

Nice temple. The canteen is really good. Some of the best south Indian fare you can find in the whole of NYC.

I went there for lunch with some other American friends. This way we got to taste different dishes. It is a "canteen" in the basement of the Ganesha Temple. We were the only non Indian people there, so we asked some of them on line with us what to order. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. I had Dosa Macella (spelling?) It was HOT, but delicious. Their soup is also very hot. In fact almost everything was hot, but very good. This is southern Indian home style cooking. Indian people who own their own restaurants eat there. It's THAT good. Bring tissues!

I have been there on occasion of "Akshayya Trutiya" with my wife. Temple is well maintained. You will find Maha Ganapati at the center and all other hindu God/Goddess surrounding Lord Ganesha. Felt really nice to be in temple almost more than month after landing in NY.
It's not a tourist must see attraction but for those who want to visit temple in NYC it's nice place. One more thing. I have got best indian food taste in Temple's canteen.
