'Atrangi Re': Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar book August 6 for theatrical release

Bollywood is back in business and producers are all racing ahead to book their date with the audience at the box office. The makers of ‘Atrangi Re’, announced on Friday that the film starring Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar, will hit theatres on August 6, 2021.
“#AtrangiRe to hit cinemas on 6th August 2021. The AR Rahman musical, starring Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan, directed by Aanand L Rai, written by Himanshu Sharma,” read the announcement on the film’s official social media handle.
The film that went on floors in March 2020, was among the many productions that were halted due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown. The team picked up where they left off in December 2020 and wrapped up filming well in time before the new year.
The Aanand L Rai directorial was initially slated to hit theatres on February 14, 2021, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
‘Atrangi Re’ marks the first time collaboration between Sara and Dhanush. The film will reportedly see the actress in a double role. Akshay Kumar will also feature in an extended cameo in the film that has been shot in and around Varanasi, Madurai, Delhi and Agra.
Akshay, who has a long list of films lined up for their releases, has also booked May 28 for the release of his film 'Bell Bottom' and a Diwali release for his historical biopic 'Prithviraj'.
