Aluminum handle is a joke. The Asurion warranty is a joke too. DON'T BUY.
I brought this for the intend of saving my back as I walk to the train twice a week with a good amount of IT equipment in my bag. It made it about 3 months before one of the posts of the handle broke off. I went to use my warranty, and it wasn't covered (based on their garbage wizard's intelligence). I had hoped by going with a known brand (high sierra), it wouldn't be garbage. I guess I was wrong. Avoid this bag.

Appears to be sturdy, rolls easily, backpack straps are easy to get to and bag is easy to hoist onto your shoulders. My 17" computer just barely fits in the main compartment, so if you have a large case on your computer, be forewarned. There doesn't appear to be padding at the bottom of the bag, so add your own padding or make sure you don't bang it too hard on pavement and steps. The main compartments are roomy. The side pockets zip completely down, so what you put in there will likely fall out when you unzip it completely. They also don't have a lot of room. I probably won't use them or only put cables in the side pockets. The handle also is hidden, which is a nice feature but it is easy to unzip to deploy. It also appears sturdy. I haven't taken it on vacation or work yet but to seems like a versatile bag, suitable for airports or day trips. I have had other High Sierra products and they have always worn and traveled well.

You should think of this more as a wheeled bag than can also be used as a backpack than a backpack that has wheels. I say that because given its larger size and more rugged nature, it is heavy for a backpack (6.5lbs empty). And with a large laptop in it, wearing it as a backpack can make you feel like you are on a trek for the deep jungle never to return. But, it was one of the few wheeled backpack laptop bags I could find that can fit a larger 17" laptop. And if you have a 17" laptop, weight was likely not your first concern anyways.

The wheels are rugged and nicely sized. I used it when attending a four day conference (on a college campus) in which I had to walk about a mile across (rough) paved and brick sidewalks from the parking lot to the venue. It never tipped, and I never felt like I was fighting it.

It is large (2,350 cubic inches). As others have mentioned, its one minor shortcoming is the lack of hooks or inner pockets. Instead you have a couple of large carnivorous pockets. It's a double edge sword. Having few large pockets means you can put larger objects in the bag. But at a cost of organization. Personally, I prefer that compromise. I've used bags that have lots of small pockets. And that can make organization easier, but at a cost of being able to fit larger things in, as well as an inability to remember which of the gazillion pockets you put something in (and it always ends up being in that hard to find pocket within a pocket :)). With this bag, I just use a travel organizer to hold some of my smaller items and then toss that in this bag. I can even put tape labels on the travel organizer so I don't have to search pockets. It works really well for me.

I've had the bag for close to a year now. And it is holding up very well. Overall, highly recommended.

Due to Covid, I don't travel as much as I'd like but I was so impressed with the one I bought for myself a few years ago that I have started buying them for other family members as birthday and Christmas presents. I've taken it on multiple international trips and it still looks almost brand new. The bag has all the pockets you'd ever need and I particularly like the smaller one near the top that's perfect for storing passports and other important papers you need as you go through an airport. I've had no problems with the extending handle or the wheels. The backpack straps are a nice addition and handy when you need both hands available. The flap that covers the (potentially wet and dirty wheels) is a nice feature. As far as room goes, it kind of depends on how you travel. My wife and I have successfully traveled for weeks with the cloths in our carry on luggage choosing to wash cloths when needed, so it depends on you. For us, these bags have never been short on space.

I actually bought 4 of these bags. The 1st one got stolen out of my car as I was using it as a tool bag since it has wheels out I could carry it around on my back with heavy, bulky, sharp tools and it held up great. It did end up with a few cuts and a minor zipper problem but the warrantee on these bags are incredible and they fixed it at no charge.

The other bags i bought are used for business trips carrying important papers and laptop, clothes for a few days, camping, food, etc.

I bought one for my 5 year old but he can't even carry it on his back empty so he pulls it and it's great for his trips through the airport and long trips. I expect this bag to last him through elementary.

I recently ordered this rolling backpack for my wife and really like the features and durability. So much so that I ordered another one for me for an upcoming trip. There are plenty of pockets to store clothing and travel accessories, along with a convenient pocket to secure your valuables - passport, wallet, keys, etc. I highly recommend it!
