POLTER WINS THE DERBY

The substitute's late penalty has earned Union victory in the first-ever Bundesliga derby between the two sides. It was a tight and nervy affair with an incredible atmosphere throughout, and it ended with one moment from the spot via Polter. None of the home fans are going home yet as they continue to party here in the German capital.

SCRAMBLE IN THE BOX

A long ball forward sees Lukebakio and Gikiewicz go for the ball. It bounces through the pair and towards goal, but Friedrich clears it away just a few yards from his own goalline.

POLTER GIVES UNION THE LEAD!

Rune Jarstein gets a hand to it, but it's not enough to keep it out as Polter fires Union into the lead. Remember, we'll have an extended period of added time after the break in play earlier, but this should open up the game with Hertha going for a leveller.

ANDRICH HAS A GO...

The midfielder takes aim from difference but can't keep his effort on target and drags it just wide of the mark. The first real shot from distance in this game.

ONE GOAL TO WIN THIS GAME?

Defence is winning the derby so far here, and it looks life if we're going to see a winner it will be the only goal of the game. A moment of magic or mistake?
65'

HERE COME HERTHA

Ante Covic's side are beginning to string nice passes together and take the ball forward to attack the Union defence. Dilrosun and Lukebakio are the points of concern for the home side's defence with both looking to get into one-on-one situations out wide, but up to now they have been kept control of.
62'

LÖWEN GOES CLOSE

The half-time substitute curls a free-kick goalwards, but not enough to get it on target.
57'

HOME SIDE PRESSING

A blocked shot from Andersson is followed up by a slice wide of goal from Andrich, but it's more sign for Union that they can look to go forward in this game. Neither side is keen on risking all for victory here at the moment.

PLAY RESUMES

The game is back underway after a six-minute break.

PLAY SUSPENDED

Referee Deniz Aytekin has sent both sets of players into their changing rooms.
48'

PAUSE IN PLAY

Play has stopped here in Berlin with the away fans' support going slightly over the top with pyrotechnics forcing the players off the pitch.
46'

BACK UNDERWAY

The second half begins with a change for either side, Joshua Mees coming on for Marius Bülter and Eduard Löwen replacing Per Skjelbred.

NO BREAKTHROUGH SO FAR

While the atmosphere in the stands has been non-stop, both teams have struggled to stamp their authority on the game on the pitch. Christopher Lenz came within inches of giving us the most remarkable start as he hit the post inside the opening three minutes, but chances have been few and far between since then.

APPROACHING THE BREAK

Hertha have been the better side in the last 10 minutes or so, with Union rarely breaking out of their own half with the ball. Can the away side make the most of their pressure before the break?
36'

GRUJIC HEADS OVER

Klünter whips in a cross and Grujic meets it perfectly, but he can't keep his header on target from inside the box.
35'

FULL-BLOODED TACKLES

As Hertha break away on the counter, the ball ends up with Marko Grujic on the edge of the Union box and he lines-up a shot at goal. But Subotic has other ideas as he cleans the ball away from his feet with an outstanding tackle, just one of many in this first half.
25'

OPENINGS RARE TO FIND

The home side are enjoying 61 per cent of the possession so far and have had the better of the chances on goal, with Lenz finding the post early on. However, neither side has been able to find real space through the other's defence in this first half here.
20'

HERTHA GROWING...

The visitors tonight are beginning to come more and more into this game, but it's all still tense here at the Alten Försterei. Both sides playing cautiously, not wanting to make mistakes.
14'

LUKEBAKIO WITH THE HEADER...

Dilrosun dribbles past Trimmel and crosses to the back post where Lukebakio is alone. The Belgian forward rises high to head at goal, but it's straight into the hands of Gikiewicz.
8'

IDEAL START FOR THE HOME SIDE

Union are enjoying all the possession and have had all the chances on goal so far here. Hertha just about keeping up with the home side's play and have been unable to take any real possession of the ball so far.
5'

THE NEXT CHANCE...

A cross from the left flank sees a header glanced at goal by Ingvartsen, but Jarstein is equal to it and makes a comfortable save.
2'

LENZ HITS THE POST!

Union should be ahead inside the opening minutes as Andersson's cross is met by the wing-back at the back post. His header back across goal bounces off the post, across the line and out away from goal. What a start to the game that would have been.

UNDERWAY IN BERLIN!

Here we go, the talking is over as Union and Hertha get things underway.
Kick-off!

HERE WE GO!

The players are out on the pitch in what is a truly magnificent atmosphere in the German capital.

HOPE YOU BROUGHT EAR PLUGS

The atmisphere is going to be incredible in Berlin tonight in a totally sold out stadium. Despite there being only 22,000 fans able to get into the ground, you can expect no lack of noise throughout the 90 minutes as we've already seen in the build-up to this game with both sets of fans singing loud and proud.

THE FEARSOME HERTHA ATTACK

For the first time this season, Hertha have Ibisevic, Lukebakio and Dilrosun all starting in a Bundesliga game. With pace, precision and experience they can cause any defence any number of problems and will look to do that today. However, the smaller pitch here at Union will be a different world to that of the Olympiastadion that Hertha call home.

ANDERSSON AND BÜLTER THE MAIN MEN

Three goals apiece for the Union pair this season and they will be key to the home side getting a victory today. Neven Subotic also starts in the centre of a three-man defence for the home side, bringing experience with him which will be vital in this highly-emotional game.

THE BERLIN DERBY IS HERE!

This evening the Bundesliga will lay witness to just the fifth match between two Berlin-based clubs and the first-ever between Union Berlin and Hertha Berlin. To say this game is going to be special is a huge understatement and both sets of players and fans are ready to give everything tonight.
