Season 1 is AMAZING but....

Original Series

Season 1 of Heroes might be my favorite season of a TV show ever. As someone who loves super powers and super powered people. Heroes has it all in season 1, cool powers, great characters and twists upon twists.

But the thing that really grinds my gears is the ending to season 1 and to me it was the downfall of the rest of the show. As I am watching this show every episode builds and builds to this moment. We even see a tease fight when Hiro goes to the future but we never got to see fire vs ice (major let down) but I understand why, I am a big professional wrestling fan, and a good thing to know is that you never let you main event fight before the match, you separate them and make every time they come close to fighting you pull them apart or you cut away from the action, this sets up your main event so when they do finally throw down, its epic. Heroes did this perfectly. Setting up Sylar "killing" Peter in Mohinder's apartment, sets up Peters comeback and ultimate victory. In the 2nd to last episode of Season 1 "Landside" we see Sylar on top of a building using his newly acquired power from Ted, making small explosions with his hands ending on the word ... boom

Sylar knows that he is going to become the exploding man from his time with Isaac and at this time Peter has no clue if its him or someone else, he just knows where to be. After we get through the end of the election and the wrapping up of the other stories, introducing Molly and making sure we have places to go in season 2, we are finally at the main event. Peter vs Sylar.

So with the two most OP heroes in our story, where they can use any sort of cool powers like Ice, Fire, Telekinesis, nuclear bombs, and so on what do we get??? A FREAKING FIST FIGHT!!! I was so let down, so angry at this show at this time, I felt like I just paid $100 for a Mike Tyson fight (not Buster Douglas).

So, Sylar grabs peter by the throat and decides this is the time to give a speech (I know, all super heroes shows/movies do this) Then grabs a parking meter and tries to hit Peter with it... WHY?!!!??!! You are literally the most power super hero person on the planet, and you have to use a parking meter?? oh right, the parking meter is only there so Nikki/Jessica can come over and save Peter and hit Sylar with it... cool.

Then Peter (who now should have super strength since he is standing next to Nikki/Jessica) starts punching Sylar in the face, not using one power. NOT ONE!!! He decides the best way to defeat this super powered villain is to punch him in the face? really?

Then Peters hands start to glow and we are finally getting to the point of finding out who the exploding man is. "Your the villain Peter, I'm the Hero" Sylar says... Then POOF like a magical macguffin Hiro shows up and says "Sylar" Sylar who looks confused says "You" then 5 seconds goes by and Hiro chargers Sylar and puts a sword through is chest..... SO YOU TELLING ME, THE MOST BADA** VILLAIN OF OUR STORY, THE GUY WHO HAS KILLED EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN HIS WAY, CANT REACT TO SOMEONE WHO IS 10 FEET AWAY AND STOP THEM WITH YOUR TELEKINESIS POWER! Come on.. really?

This is the biggest problem with Heroes, and dont get me wrong... I LOVE THIS SHOW... But at the end of the day if you cant do proper action scenes with this type of show, you failed. And dont get me started on the whole fight between Peter, Nathan and Sylar in the hotel room where we only got to see what was happening from Claire's point of view and through the key whole!

i think of it like this... sometimes it's best left to your imagination (the two fights we don't see). I noticed a long while ago while reading LOR that we never get to actually see (read) Gandalf's full power/might, only subtle glimpses of his magical potential. This makes you want more. It leaves your mind to imagine what else could be possible. This is how I felt during the Future Peter vs Future Sylar fight, and the Peter & Nathan vs Sylar hotel fight. No idea if this was their intention, or if they didnt have the budget for it. Who knows, but this is how I justify these unseen fights. Sometimes it's just better left to your own imagination.

I agree, but I have a terrible imagination haha.

Plus, it was how they were building it. Imagine if you were watching a marvel movie and the whole movie was building towards the big fight IE Civil War.

Then after all the drama, all the back stabbing all the things that lead us here, we dont get to see the fight? I chalk it up to a low budget which doesn't make sense because at the time it was Heroes and Lost for the best shows on TV.

I mean why cant you show us Sylar freezing people and the cutting their head offs and eats their brains, yes I know, they changed how he gets powers by "understanding" how they tick, but in season 1 when Parkman is at the Walkers before they find Molly, her parents are MISSING their brains, which you can see is why they thought he ate them.

I just wanted more. Less drama more action but I guess Tim Kring is more into drama.

I just started these series and was blown away with how good it was. And then after that 1st season finale I felt so let down. It was just a big fat dud
