I've read on recent posts the HMO bypass is now open and it is beautiful. We are driving from Phoenix on Friday and would LOVE any other feedback on this. Can I access the new route through Google maps? Are there clear road signs?

I haven't yet driven it, but several friends have taken it north in the last week. Going north, it's clearly marked -- I assume it is coming South too. I don't yet see it on Google Maps.
After crossing the border at Nogales, go through the 2nd toll booth, before Hermosillo. Watch for the sign for Guaymas. Follow the Guaymas exit, then watch the signs as you will have to make a quick U-turn, then you will be making a couple more turns. Trust the signs to Guaymas as it will seem like you are going the opposite direction away from Hermosillo but just follow the signs and you will breath a sigh of relief when you get on the bypass. It's beautiful! We think it shaves off about 20 minutes on the trip to San Carlos, We left Oro Valley @ 5:30 am and arrived in San Carlos at 10:45 am. We made 1 stop to pick up our tourist VISA. Good Luck!
Is it marked Nogales Libramiento going up and Guaymas Libramiento going south?
We just took it a few days ago to get to San Carlos. Our GPS took us on it. It was nice. Easy big road no traffic at all.
Does anyone know if the southbound overpass is complete or do you still have to detour west and make a U turn, as described above a year ago?
The HMO bypass route is now open in both northbound and southbound directions. There is a toll booth in each direction charging a reasonable fee. Much better than driving through Hermosillo.
Thanks Bruce! I couldn't find a clear answer on this until I read your note!! Thanks for posting it! We're taking it today!
