Today Marvel Studios revealed our first look at footage from Eternals, the studio’s upcoming team movie about a group of godlike beings in hiding on Earth.

For years, the first weekend in May has been synonymous with a big superhero movie release, and while American theaters are not quite ready for that yet, Marvel Studios has marked the occasion nonetheless. In a sizzle reel revealing several new release dates and even titles for upcoming films, the company revealed its first footage from Academy Award-winning director Chloé Zhao’s Eternals.

Eternals will bring a new suite of characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a group of immortal beings with fantastic powers, created by nigh-omnipotent space beings at the dawn of civilization. The Eternals have lived secretly among us for thousands of years, never dying, never aging, and inspiring some of humanity’s greatest myths.

The new footage shows us Salma Hayek as Ajak, the Eternals’ leader; Lia McHugh as the youthful-seeming Sprite; Richard Madden as Ikari; Angelina Jolie as Then; Gemma Chan as Sersi; and Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo. The characters appear in the present, but also what could be the past.
