Maximizing the Value of your Consumer-Driven Health Plan

As the cost of health care continues to rise, its affordability is top of mind for everyone. Not surprisingly, consumer-driven health plans — introduced to help combat rising costs and provide members with more control over their health care expenditures — have increased in popularity. Over the years, many businesses have had to restructure their offerings, causing more interest in high-deductible health plans and health savings accounts.

In this one-hour interactive webinar, human resource professionals will learn more about consumer-driven health plans, how they function and the roles that you, your health plan and employees play when implementing a consumer-driven health plan. Experts from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will share their expertise on what’s happening in the market with high-deductible health plans, the link between plan understanding and making informed decisions, and how that understanding can lead to higher satisfaction and lower costs.

Why Behavioral Health Matters – A Look at Substance Use Disorders

From workplace safety to productivity and ultimately, health care cost, substance use disorders (SUD) present many challenges for today’s employers. According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD), more than 70% of those with substance use disorder in the U.S. are employed. And with COVID-19, substance use continues to be a problem for employers as many individuals sought alcohol, nicotine, opioids, and illicit drugs to cope with the additional stress brought on by the pandemic.

During this one-hour Master Class webinar, experts from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan will unwrap the challenges employers face with substance use disorder by discussing global and national trends related to SUD, the prevalence and issues stemming from stigma, and the ways SUD can be treated. HR and benefit-decision professionals will leave this Master Class with a better understanding of the impact of SUD, what challenges their employees face when confronted with this disease and how to best support their entire workforce with resources and tools.

    Why Behavioral Health Matters

Depression. Anxiety. Addiction. Mental health. Co-morbidities. What does it all mean? What is behavioral health and why does it matter to you, your business and your employees?

Behavioral health includes a spectrum of mental and emotional issues or disorders. And the link between behavioral health and physical health is an important one. Someone who suffers from one or more chronic diseases is likely to be depressed. Depression — or any other behavioral health issue — can negatively affect physical health. What’s more, medical costs increase significantly when a person has a chronic condition, such as diabetes or heart disease, in conjunction with a behavioral health issue. Health plan data indicates that an individual with both a behavioral health disorder, such as depression, and a chronic condition can result in double the cost of treatment and care than someone without a behavioral health disorder.

During this one-hour Master Class webinar, William Beecroft, MD, and Jonathan Henry, MD, will share their expertise on behavioral health, discuss how behavioral and physical health are related and how integrating both modalities of care can be more effective for individuals. HR professionals will gain a better understanding of the toll behavioral health issues can have on their business and what tools they can use to help their employees who may be suffering with behavioral health issues.
