LOL.....this was the Animal House at the Heidelberg Project. Not long after I took this shot, it was destroyed by fire.
This building at the Heidelberg Project, if memory serves, caught fire a little while after I took this shot.

"Dotty Wotty" aka "The New White House" is one of the few remaining buildings in the Heidelberg Project on Detroit's east side.
The Heidelberg Project is a controversial outdoor art project conceived in 1986 by artist Tyree Guyton. After a tour in the Army, Guyton returned to Heidelberg Street, his childhood Detroit neighborhood, and was quoted as saying "it looked like a bomb went off" there.
He began using "found objects" to decorate abandoned homes in the area, for example discarded toy dolls were affixed to the exterior of one house and it became known as the "Doll House". Tourists, and artists alike flocked to the area to be amused and amazed by the vision of the artist. But not everyone saw the artistic achievement. Two Detroit mayors ordered destruction of some of the homes. Then in 2013 and 2014, eight houses were lost to an arsonist in separate incidents. No one was apprehended.
Today, the spirit of Heidelberg Project remains, but vacant lots mark the spots of many parts of the neighborhood.
This is the house at the Heidelberg Project in Detroit that was burned to the ground this morning, the third house in two weeks.
I took this last year at the Heidelberg Project. I posted a different shot from a slightly different pov.
This is what is left of the Heidelberg Project Doll House following the latest bout with the match of an arsonist.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said "We are all the same color on the inside" and inspired Guyton to create this celebratory statement of color. The polka dots are a symbol "celebrating the diversity of our city, our nation and our world. The Polka Dot House is our foundation for "universal harmony". The Polka-dot house is also a dedication to Guyton's late grandfather and first teacher, Sam Mackey, a renowned artist who lived in the house and worked side by side with Guyton. Our ultimate goal is to dedicate the Dotty Wotty House as a memorial to Sam Mackey. The Sam Mackey Museum will house memorabilia of the Heidelberg Project in its continuing struggle. Currently the artist's mother and family reside in this house and, although they enjoy the attention, they want to see the Sam Mackey Museum become a reality.

Heidelberg Project - Detroit. Yes, it is true...I have posted this photo before. However, as the Heidelberg Project is an organic and ever evolving process, when I found new decor, well, you get the picture (I hope.)
The pictures from the Heidelberg project came out really well. The only issue was that is should have used a polarizing filter cause the light was much harsher than I thought. It is kind of a cool effect though.
LOL....this was from the Heidelberg Project a few years ago. I almost didn't see my reflection. Hope everyone has a great week! Thanks so much everyone, this one was just added to Explore!

LOL....part of the artwork at the Heidelberg Project in Detroit. I have shot this before, so I was surprised to see that it is still there. I added a filter to make it look more like dusk.
