Truly a movie that time forgot; literally NO ONE I’ve ever met has even heard of this movie, but lucky for you all, Arch Stanton is here to shout from the mountaintop how much he loves this kooky little black comedy. This film would be a positively PERFECT addition to the Shout Select catalogue, making a great follow up to their release of Very Bad Things; are you listening Shout Factory?!!
Almost a stage play, there are like 4 TOTAL characters in the movie; Cameron Diaz is Nathalie, newly married to Harvey Keitel(what), him being the judge who gave her a light sentence…

head above water is the stupidest film i’ve ever seen, it’s borderline painful to watch but harvey keitel looks great so it’s worth it, right?
A movie that only seemed to exist on HBO in summer 1997, and nowhere else. I watched it often, transfixed by Cameron Diaz and the various messes her character gets into, but couldn’t find it anywhere outside of cable. Finally Warner Bros. released it as a manufacture-on-demand DVD years back.
It’s not quite a hidden gem, since too much of the movie revolves around Cameron just running away from the various men in her life, but it still possesses a strange hold over me. Few people seem to know this movie even exists, and while I get how the studio didn’t think a dark comedy would go over well with audiences, I still think it deserved a better fate than…
This is a wacky little movie and I had a ton of fun with it. Def gonna check out the original now.
The scene with Cameron Diaz and the chainsaw is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Watchable but not very good....its one of those "everybody is trying to murder everybody else" kinda movies, and the twists aren't all that great, although I will admit to finding the end set piece suspenseful in a "how are they ever gonna resolve this?!?!?!?" kinda way. This is one of those kinds of movies where you either have to really like the main character (that would be Cameron Diaz) to be able to roll with this (or at least find her less heinous than the others onscreen) and to be honest i didn't really care for her all that much, she makes one too many stupid decisions along the way, and at least one or two of those could've gotten…
I love all the twisty turns. Harvey Keitel has never been so condescending. Cameron Diaz has the perfect level of sincere naivety.
One day I must watch the original...
What a surprise this flick is. I didn't realize that the self-aware 90s took on the psychological thriller genre. Having no idea what I was getting into, it was a lot of fun to see the thriller genre get the Scream treatment.
Everyone in the flick is game, and plays their stereotype perfectly. Billy Zane sneaks in with what is some clever stunt casting. Cameron Diaz is faced with getting out of multiple situations of imprisonment that get goofier, and goofier, until the final Rube Goldberg-esque escape. Craig Sheffer spends a lot of time with rolled up pants, open shirts, whilst brooding in his rundown shack, or looking out at the ocean. Harvey Keitel gets to go full dweeb older…
i watched this movie on youtube with no idea what it was about. the plot twist was very obvious but it was fun!

I swear, people on here just don't know how to have fun! The 2.7 average rating seems mean, this is actually a funny movie anchored by some great performances and use of one location.
I loved seeing Harvey Keitel slowly descend into madness, literally every single thing he did in this was hilarious. Cameron Diaz was also great, I'm warming up to her as an actress - while she's not amazing, I think she does well at these kind of naïve and likeable protagonists. Plus, she looked incredible in this movie and was good at the physical comedy elements.
