Gengar is a powerful Ghost-type Pokémon that evolves from Haunter that can be difficult to acquire. You'll need to catch or trade for a Haunter (or Gastly, if you don't mind leveling it) and then trade that Haunter to someone else to trigger its evolution. Haunter isn't available in all games, so you may not be able to find it without a friend or trading buddy.

  1. Depending on the version of Pokémon you are playing, you may or may not be able to find a Haunter or Gastly in the wild. If you get a Gastly, level it up to Level 25 to evolve it into a Haunter.[1]
