Harry Kane: Tottenham Hotspur want to tie down England captain for 'the rest of his life', says Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte has responded to speculation about Harry Kane's Tottenham Hotspur future by saying the club want their captain to stay for the rest of his career. Kane's future is once again the subject of speculation, with Manchester United said to be interested in a move when the striker enters the final year of his contract this summer. Conte also reacted to rumours about his own future.

Tottenham Hotspur will do everything to convince Harry Kane to stay at the club for the rest of his career, according to manager Antonio Conte.
The Spurs captain enters the final year of his contract with the Premier League side at the end of the season, which has led to speculation about his future.
Kane has been linked with a move to Manchester United, although reports earlier this week said the Red Devils don’t want to be drawn into protracted negotiations with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Conte was asked about his top scorer’s future ahead of his side’s Premier League trip to Southampton.
"I think this is a question for the club. For sure the club wants to involve Harry Kane for the rest of his career, in my opinion,” said the Italian.
"Because when you have this type of player, a world-class striker like him, you want him to stay here for the rest of his life.
"But then, you know football. Sometimes it's unpredictable but it's not in my task to make a decision. This is the decision for the club and for Harry.”
Sky Sports News reported that Spurs won’t consider selling Kane this summer regardless of whether he signs a contract extension or not.

The England captain has scored 22 goals this season in all competitions in 2022/23, but it has been a difficult campaign for Spurs and Conte’s future is also in doubt after last week’s Champions League exit.
The manager was criticised in the wake of a last-16 defeat to AC Milan, which came not long after a shock FA Cup exit to Sheffield United, while in the Premier League Tottenham are fighting to stay in the top four.
However, rumours about potential candidates to succeed Conte, whose contract is up at the end of the season, haven’t affected the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss.
"I think that we have to accept every type of situation. The most important thing to know is that you are working very hard every day at the club that you are working for,” Conte said.
"For the manager, it's important to do this and to know that you are giving not 100 per cent, but much more to improve the club that believes in yourself."
Conte said after the defeat to Milan that the club “might even sack me”, but he has backtracked on those comments.
“I don't think the club is thinking [of sacking me]. I think the club sees every day what me and my staff are doing at this club. It was only an answer about my future,” Conte explained.
“I think there is not one club who can tell the manager you are staying here until the end of the season. The future is really strange and you don't know what will happen tomorrow.
"But I repeat, in my opinion, I will try in every moment to do everything. Me and my staff. The club appreciates this. If you continue to ask me if I'm going to sign a new contract, it shows the club is appreciating what we [have been] doing in the last year and a half.”
Spurs are fourth in the Premier League and four points clear of Newcastle United below them, although Eddie Howe's side have two games in hand.
