The Hard Rock Hotel San Diego offers a rockstar atmosphere with its music-themed decor, situated in the vibrant Gaslamp district, a detail that guests have called out for its convenience. However, some travelers have experienced inconsistent service, with reports of unresponsiveness and delays. Guests praise certain amenities, yet others feel the additional fees and room rates don't match the value received. While the rooms and public areas are generally maintained, noise is a common complaint, with disruptions from the street and hotel parties being a notable concern.

We arranged a suite for our wedding night at the Hard Rock Hotel. I've never stayed there before but heard good things. I have to say that I was impressed and happy with our choice. The staff from the front desk girl to the room service staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful. We had a great time. We really felt like rock stars during our stay, an experience I highly recommend!

Stayed at the Hard Rock San Diego for Comic-Con and LOVED it. The staff was great and the room was their basic one, but I was really nice. Bathroom beautiful. Cool shower with overhead and wall shower heads - no tub, which we could have used after waling a zillion miles each day.
They only recommendation I have is that you request to be away from the floor service entrance. We were in room 1034 and every time they used that door it was pretty loud starting pretty early in the morning. We didn't asked to be moved because we heard the hotel was full. Minor complaint though. We rally hope to get a room there next year too!

We look forward to seeing you next year. Thanks for the feedback about the elevators; guest input is always the best tool for training. As for the tub, make sure to request one when you check in next time, and we’ll do our best to get you into the requested room. Thanks for the review.

I was really excited to stay at the Hard Rock. The pictures on the internet made the rooms look so great. When I got there, they looked just like the pictures. I was able to check in early. They have my favorite music playing when I get to my room and everything was modern and up to date. The two TVs were great. Everytime I called to the front desk, the people were so friendly and got me everything I needed in no time. The rooftop pool and cabanas were nice. It was also nice to be able to do my business in the computer room. The room was very clean. The valets were friendly and very helpful.
I was not sure at first if this would be family friendly, but it does a good job of balancing a famliy friendly environment with a young fresh vibe for those that want to have a good time.

All credit to Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. We stayed there for one night (all other nights sold out) in July. That was a great experience. Our son turned 13 while we stayed there and it was his choise to stay at HRH - he chose it over Disneyland and Universal Studio. And he was thrilled. The great staff upgraded us to a Rock Suite and they even gave my son a birthday present. The hotel is great in all senses and I would recommend it to everybody.

Just got back from a two day stay at the Hard Rock in San Diego. The place is Uber-Chic and totally styled like you would expect a Hard Rock hotel to be. But wait... I am getting a bit ahead of myself. First of all, I would like to mention the way the reservation was handled. It was professional and they even asked what type of music I wanted playing in my room when I arrived (which it was). Between making my reservation and actually staying at the hotel, I received several emails (albeit automatically generated) reminding me of my stay and options to book a spa visit, question what is going on in the area, etc. I have never had this kind of attention from a hotel, and I for one... liked it. Okay, so I arrive and the line to get valet parking was kind of busy, so I parked across the street in the public parking and save myself some money ($21 per day vs. $35 per day at the hotel... although no in/out priveleges). When I arrived, my room was ready and clean. When I checked out the room, it was very stylish. There was a HUGE screen TV and some interesting architectural items like a small little "Peek-a-boo" window behind the mini-bar that looked straight into the bathroom... specifically in to the shower. Given that this was a single King bed room, I would imagine that they figured out that either one person was staying here or, at least, two people who knew each other quite well and would not mind watching each other shower. Again... totally cool... and totally Hard Rock. Just a couple other things about the room. First of all, no tub. Shower only [albeit with a terrific "rain" shower head]. Apparently rock stars don't like to soak. AND... the room, although totally "techy" has no DVD player. Disappointing. I brought Netflix DVDs with me to watch and when I couldn't find a DVD player in the room I called the front desk ("chic-ly" called "Ground Control" at the hotel) and asked about a DVD player. Yes, they have them, but at a cost of $100 per night! Too pricey for me. Now I am not the usual Hard Rock "demographic" as I am close to 50 years of age, but the Hard Rock staff made me feel comfortable nonetheless. The hotel is about a block away from Petco Park so if you are going to catch a Padres game, the location is PERFECT. The only complaint I had, and it is not the Hard Rock's issue, was that the people across from my room were very, very noisey and loud... usually until 2 or 3 in the morning. They were apparently there for a Bachelor/Bachelorette party and well, it was the Hard Rock so they were partying like... well, rock stars! It made getting to sleep and staying asleep a little challenging, but I made it through. Which brings me to my final point. If you go, and you really should, request a room on a higher floor. There is the 207 Lounge on the first floor and they party there quite late into the evening/early morning. I heard them quite a bit and I was on the 8th floor, so I can only imagine that it would be pretty much unbearable on a lower floor. But in any case, the Hard Rock lived up to its expectations as a cool, hip, trendy location. The staff appears to be well trained and the rooms well designed. Overall a good experience and one I would imagine others would enjoy.

We thought this would be a fun, cool place to stay but the staff was so rude. Everytime we needed something we were told no. My girlfriend finally had a melt down when she was told to dispose of her water bottle at the pool. We had to spend a minimum of $350.00 to use the pool. They were having a pool party and after we paid the $350.00 we were told we had to leave the rooftop pool, go down 6 flights, go out to the street (in our suits)and then by $20.00 wristbands to come back in. One of their favorite lines is that " It's for your own safety" We weren't even allowed to bring a bag to the pool area. I thought they must be having Beyonce (the way they were acting)on the roof but instead it was some DJ that was medicore at best. The group that was next to us was literally kicked out of the pool for jumping in the pool. (it was for their own safety). That was after they spent $500.00 for their spot, which I'm sure they resold. The pictures on the website are very misleading. they make the pool look big but it's about the size of a backyeard pool. We had upgraded to a suite but it was so small with no privacy and I finally had to demand they come up and cleaned. Worst experience I have Ever had at a hotel

Let me simply say I’m sorry. Our goal is to deliver authentic experiences that rock and certainly we missed the mark completely for you. But I’m not sure what action i can take here. While there are plenty of details in your review, there are none I can fully address. I’m not sure why you would be required to spend $350 to use the pool; certainly if you had requested bottle service, then I can see where the number would come from, but I can’t conclude that with the information above. I’m not sure why the team would have asked you to leave the pool to purchase tickets. I’m not sure why you would feel the suite was not private. I’m not at all defensive – where there are issues we’ll always shine a light on them and fix them – but I’m just not sure where to start here. I would ask that you connect with me, but Tripadvisor’s rules do not allow this. Therefore, let me simply say, I’m sorry. The entire Hard Rock team is sorry. We are all about creating raving fans, nothing less.

I have stayed at the Hard Rock San Diego a few times and every time has been a blast! This trip was no different. The service is always exceptional and everyone at the hotel is extremely friendly. They really go out of their way to make sure you are completely taken care of. My room was towards the top of the hotel and had amazing views of the San Diego Padres Petco Park and the Coronado Bay Bridge. Gorgeous! Intervention was so much fun! I can't wait to go back. I definitely encourage anyone who is going to be in downtown San Diego, especially near the Gaslamp District, to stay at the Hard Rock. Amazing hotel!

Wife and I stayed at the Hard Rock recently and had an amazing visit. Check in went smooth. There was no wait and the girl that checked us in was super nice. We found out that she is from Oklahoma, so it was kinda cool talking to her.

We were given the introduction by a nice young man. He took us to our room on the top floor and showed us how to operate everything. He was super nice, I ran into him a few more times during our stay and he would always greet us and ask how things were going.

We were in a suite. A pretty awesome sweet. I believe it was called the Black Eyed Peas Suite. It ran about 330.00 a night. I am very glad that my wife's company was picking up the bill. I loved the shower with the two spray heads. One normal and the other coming down from the ceiling. The decorations were pretty awesome. Loved the contemporary feel. We slept very well in the beds and found the reading lamps very cool and useful.

We had a view facing downtown and the Gaslamp area. It was cool to look out at night and see everything going on. Everything is so lit up. If I looked over the balcony and too the left I could see an aircraft carrier in the harbor. If I looked to the right, I could see part of Petco field. There were games going on two of the nights we were there. It got loud when they scored. Not too loud. We kept the balcony doors open most of the time we were in the room except for when we were sleeping. When the doors were closed, we really didn't hear much except for an ocassional siren or horn. After a couple of days, I tried to get a pool view suite but since there was a huge conference in town, there were no rooms available.

Got to check out the pool area a few times. Never swam. We hung out for a bit and did some people watching. There were several parties going on during our stay. If you want to party like a rockstar then this is the place to be. Seen a few celebrities in and around the hotel. It was pretty awesome.

Didn't check out any of the restaurants in the hotel but they do have a yogurt place connected that was fabulous. We did try to eat at Mary Janes one night but they had already closed. FYI, there is a convenient store/deli around the corner that was very handy.

We really had a great time at the hotel. Loved the location, Loved the staff, Loved the visit. Wish we could have stayed longer.

This hotel is so amazing! From the super cool bedrooms to the excellent on site eateries, this hotel really does rock! The artwork throughout the hotel itself is to die for. This hotel is also in a really great location! It is close to seaworld, the zoo, and a lot of great beaches! The beds were comfortable and the room was very hip and clean!

If I ever go to San Diego again I will probably go back to this hotel!!!

My friend and I traveled to San Diego from Los Angeles just to go to the Hard Rock to see Dave Navarro on July 4th. Although the weather was AWFUL...the pool/spa/party scene was so much fun!!! Everyone at the hotel was super cool and welcoming, and our suite was impeccable! The only bummer was the $35 valet charge overnight...but I guess you get that at every hotel. I will say they had a killer BBQ that was delicious!!!!

When I stayed the deposit went towards one of my room nights - it wasn't returned (if I would have canceled my stay within their cancelation policy guidelines, it probably would have been returned).

Yes, a deposit for incidentals is required at check in. $100 additional deposit is required for standard rooms per night or $250 additional deposit is required for Rock Star Suites per night. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

We do not have a casino at our property. San Diego does have a few casinos. They are some card rooms nearby, but they do not offer electronic gaming. Traditional casinos are about 40 minutes away.
