Happy birthday to Brody Dalle!
Sing sing death house and coral fang were great punk records..... Especially sing sing... Still one of my fave records ❤️
I thought the self titled album was better than Sing Sing Death House.
yeah its a rad album too. much more raw :)
Still a great artist
That warzone shirt is mint but I didn't know anyone still cared about the distillers.
I still listen to the Distillers. One of my favorite punk bands. The self titled album is one of my favorite albums. I play it every now and again, especially when someone reminds me. Like this post. L.A. Girl is a fucking killer song too.
They're my favorite, fuck. Brody was my biggest crush for so long.
It's cool that those albums can do things for you. I don't think I can sit through three or four of her songs in a row anymore. They don't do anything for me. Then again I find myself constantly skipping songs when I listen to my rancid cds anymore. For me there's just so much more appealing music out there now.
Any suggestions?
Shit I'm listening to now? Smooth beans Red soul community Rude Pride Razorcut Bad assests SAGO Cycle of violence Toots and the Maytals Desmond Dekker Need I go on? Or do you still want to be a passive aggressive twat?
Geez dude I was really just asking for suggestions, wanted some new songs to listen to. Thanks tho
And because of her Rancid hasn't toured Australia
Seriously?
Tim's never confirmed it but they last toured here in 1998
Why though? Brody still lives in LA I think.
He met her here, she's Australian... Not sure but they've got a massive fan base and tour Japan frequently but not here. It's not my theory but a very common one here.
I just don't think they'd avoid an entire country because of one person who doesn't live there anymore.
Australia is fuckin expensive and there aren't that many cities there. If you want to make money touring it's not a great place to go.
According to her interviews she lives in new york
Definitely lives in LA. I delivered some stuff to her about a month ago.

is* She still is. Probably even hotter now

Tim Armstrong is like 13 years older than her.
I guess, I find her attractive either way, Though I always liked that kinda toned down Punk and to a lesser extent alternative look.
I used to have that shirt. That's an old one, I think I got mine in '89 or '90.
I hope you stayed rebel.
I dunno, man. I watch a lot of NFL nowadays.
I watch MLS.
Those three distillers albums are incredible, nothing quite like them
The less talented Courtney Love.
?
Thought I was in r/cringepics for a second
She sucks
yawn
Oh shit sorry man, I can remove it if it'll help you stay awake longer.
I just never got the appeal of Dalle. A female Armstrong that used his resources, fronted a project full of paid session/touring musicians, only to leave someone for better resources/money and change their sound entirely.
I had to listen to the Distillers discography, the production on a technical level for the pre-Sire stuff is on the exact same level as Rancid's stuff, even to the extent that they kick in the drums or some kind of vocal effect during a guitarline introduction /slightly/ sooner than other bands might have.
After sire, you get clear vocal lines, less emphasis on split channel effects, more interest in musicianship.
It's also worth mentioning that Armstrong and her met at 15 (literally 3 days before her age-of-consent birthday at the Summersault Melbourne - 29 December 1995) which is sketchy as hell.
The appeal? I just like her music.
How dare you? /s...I.actually.love.her.music.too
I don't really care about what got her here. From what I understand, she was kind of a shithead to Tim. But I dig the albums and I feel real strong raw energy coming from her vocals. I don't much care for her stuff after this band. But for what it was, she at least made one of my favorite punk albums (self titled). She's a good blend of guttural and soul singing, and I like that a lot. Rancid doesn't have that. Some of her riffs on that first album just hit me right in the heart. So I kinda get where you're coming from, but I just hear this band in a totally different way.
And Rancid is cool too. But this has a kind of classic status to me, through my own experiences, that Rancid just doesn't have.
I feel he now is like that with the interrupters
oh that bands totally made up and he's riding their coat-tales for sure to keep up some form of Legacy.
I read yesterday they played And Out Come The Wolves in full on their Honor Is All They Know promotional tour. That sort of sums it up. 'hey, we have a new record, but we already know you like this old one because everyone hear is 35+ so... we'll just play that instead"
Hellcat hasn't really released anything in years aside from reissues, Rancid records and Interrupters' stuff.
Right? She evens sings just like him, just like Brody did. Some people are praising it like the 4th wave of ska. Though I'm not sure the 3rd one was or is praised. Sorry mustard plug.
