Is it any surprise that Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow begins her day by swishing around a tablespoon of raw coconut oil in her mouth? "It's an Ayurvedic way to remove bacteria from the mouth," Paltrow explains, referencing the ancient technique known as oil pulling.

What follows is pretty much the expected diet and palate of someone who runs her own wellness and lifestyle brand. Paltrow consumes protein- and fiber-rich smoothies, peanut butter protein bars, turkey burgers, and green tea.

In this episode of Food Diaries, our February 2020 cover star walks us through what she eats over the course of one day.

"I'm not a big breakfast person," she divulges. Instead, Paltrow starts her day at the gym with GoopGlow, a "superpowder" that revitalizes the skin with vitamin C and other antioxidants. "I'm obsessed with that stuff," she says. "It's like my morning kind of orange juice."

Heading to the Goop office, Paltrow aims for either a protein-rich smoothie or peanut butter protein bar.

By noon, she's ready to grab lunch. "I'm usually eating for lunch stuff that you would see on the Goop website," she says. "Like a salad with some protein, or sometimes they're testing something really fun for detox, like they're using jicama for taco shells. They'll do a really clean version of a turkey burger with some kind of great sauce. It's very healthy and wrapped in lettuce or something like that."
