Gregory Lay Obituary

Gregory Stephen Lay, 53, of St. Petersburg, FL, died of complications of AIDS on November 13th. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the beloved son of the late Peter Lay and Bernadette Lay of Charlestown in Catonsville, MD. Greg is survived by his siblings: Mike Lay (Cheryl Kleinsmith), Christine Lay (Dr. Mari Blackburn), Bernadette Brinn (late Bill Brinn), Nick Lay (Sandy McGinniss), Cathy Combs (Bill Combs); nieces and nephews: Jennifer Bowden (Nick Bowden), Nicholas Lay (Jamie Smith), Miranda Means, Dane Lay, Ryan Lay (Alexandra), Colin Lay, Caroline Braun (AJ Braun), Sara Combs; great niece Zuri Lay and great nephew Benjamin Bowden. Greg attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School and graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic High School. Greg worked as a waiter in Baltimore at the Owl Bar in the Belvedere Hotel and the Hampton's in the Harbor Court Hotel, as well as in New Orleans, LA and Palo Alto, CA. Greg later worked as a barber in several hair salons in Baltimore before moving to Rehoboth Beach, DE. Greg had a winning smile and was a friend to everyone he met. He loved his family, the beach, traveling, decorating, entertaining, crafts, cooking, seafood and his Yorkie, Tiger. Although we have lost a beautiful son, brother, uncle and friend, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved. Donations can be made to Camp Rehoboth, 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971(302-227-5620) in Greg's memory.
