Gregg Allman & Cher Perform ‘Midnight Rider’ & More In 1975

One of rock ‘n’ roll’s early power-couples formed when Cher married The Allman Brothers Band frontman Gregg Allman in June 1975. Cher had just left another famous mate, divorcing Sonny Bono just days before her wedding with Allman. The marriage between Cher and Gregg lasted until 1978 and included the birth of their son Elijah Blue in 1976. For Throwback Thursday, here’s a look at a pre-married Gregg and Cher together months before they tied the knot.

Cher debuted a new variety show Cher in early-1975. During the May 11, 1975 season one episode she was joined by her “very good friend” Allman as a special guest performer.
