Greg Smith

Greg Smith is chief financial officer and executive vice president of Corporate Development & Strategy at The Boeing Company, the world's largest aerospace company. Smith is responsible for overall financial management of the company, its financial reporting and transparency, and for multiple corporate functions including Controller, Treasury, Investor Relations, Tax and long-range planning. He also oversees Boeing Capital Corporation, the company's global financing arm. Additionally, Smith leads the organization that analyzes the marketplace and shapes the company’s strategies accordingly to capture profitable growth. In this capacity, Smith also guides Boeing’s corporate development function, with responsibility for mergers and acquisitions.
Smith, 50, has extensive operational and financial experience in both the commercial and defense businesses of Boeing over two decades of company service. Smith was formerly Corporate Controller and vice president, Finance, at Boeing beginning in February 2010. As a corporate officer and the company's principal interface with the board of directors' audit committee, Smith was charged with ensuring Boeing's financial disclosures and regulatory compliance were timely, transparent and efficient.
Prior to that, he was vice president of Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, leading business plan development, financial forecasting, financial analysis, and capital commitment planning, as well as competitive analysis and benchmarking. Smith rejoined Boeing in 2008 after holding the position of Vice President of Global Investor Relations at Raytheon. Prior to joining Raytheon, Smith was Controller for Boeing's Shared Services Group and he also held key leadership roles in supply chain, factory operations, finance, and program management.
Smith serves on the board of trustees for the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, the board of directors of the Economic Club of Chicago, and the board of directors of the Chicago Botanic Garden.
He is married with three children and lives in the Chicago area.
