The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport will have a new police chief tomorrow.

Kevin Murphy is retiring as the airport's police chief and Scott Schwartz, who currently serves as the assistant police chief, will be fulfilling the role as CVG's top cop.

Murphy has served as a police officer since 1992 and as chief for the airport since 2005. He also serves as the president of the Airport Law Enforcement Agencies Network and the president of the Northern Kentucky Police Chief Association.

"It is our loyal and dedicated staff at CVG that keep our passengers safe and secure," said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

"Without Kevin's leadership, CVG would not be the first airport in the country to receive Safety Act Designation and Certification from the Department of Homeland Security. We thank Kevin for his leadership and service to CVG and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community."

Meanwhile, Schwartz will take over the chief role after first serving as a patrolman at the CVG Police Department in 1991. Schwartz was promoted to detective in 1996, sergeant in 1998, lieutenant in 2005 and to assistant police chief in 2011.

Lt. Shawn Ward will assume Schwartz role as assistant police chief. Ward started with the CVG Police Department in 1992. He was promoted to sergeant in 1999 and to lieutenant in 2005.
