The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team are continuing their fine performance in the Sydney 7s and have booked a spot in the cup semifinals after a comfortable 26-14 win over Great Britain.
Speedster Viwa Naduvalo opened the try scoring for Fiji in the first half followed by Josua Vakurinabili.
Max McFarland hit back for Great Britain with a converted try, however magic man Waisea Nacuqu quickly capitalized on errors by scoring Fiji’s third try just before half time.
Fiji led 19-7.
Manueli Maisamoa showed pure class in his offloads and combination with Naduvalo, which resulted in him extending the lead to 24 – 7.
Will Homer responded in the 12th minute adding 7 more points to the tally for Great Britain however Fiji managed to hold up a solid defence until the final hooter.
In earlier matches, New Zealand beat Samoa 12-0 and South Africa beat Ireland 26–12.
The semifinals kick off at 5:06pm tomorrow and Fiji will play South Africa in the second cup semifinal at 5:28pm.
The cup final will be played at 9:26pm tomorrow.
