Graham Norton shares rare insight into married life as broadcaster is named Attitude's Person of the Year

Graham Norton has shared a rare insight about his marriage to husband Jonathan ‘Jono’ McLeod as the beloved broadcaster was named Attitude’s Person of the Year.

The BBC presenter tied the knot with the Scottish filmmaker in his hometown of West Cork in July 2022. The wedding, attended by 120 guests, featured a performance by Lulu and a DJ set by Irish drag artist and activist Panti Bliss.

The 60-year-old, who had previously kept his relationship private, humorously remarked on marrying later in life, joking he feel “like I’ve turned on my tribe” but earnestly said he’s “enjoying it”.

He told Attitude: “It’s good! I feel like I’ve turned on my tribe. You know when people in relationships, or who are married, want it for you?

“You just want me to do it to validate the choice you made! But I am enjoying it.

“I was older, so I went into it with my eyes wide open. You know the pitfalls of relationships, the dangers. But I met someone who I was willing to take a bet on.”

The Virgin Radio presenter also discussed the impact of getting older - and debunked any suggestion he has had any cosmetic help to slow down the signs of ageing.

“I’ve never liked what I see in the mirror, and still don’t,” he shared. “So, I don’t know what to say. Silver fox? I’m a fox that got mange.

“I don’t mind the way I look. I take care of myself.

“Obviously, I wish there were fewer lines on my face, more hair on my head. But there are things you can do about that, and I haven’t done those things.”

His comments come as the author has been named Attitude magazine’s Person of the Year for 2024, which honours an individual whose remarkable contributions and cultural influence have advanced LGBTQ+ representation.
