Although the exact location is unknown at this time, a very posh private school is setting its sights on the New Glasgow area to open and attract students and teaching staff from around the world.
The Gordonstoun Nova Scotia school was supposed to open on the grounds of the former Upper Clements Theme Park in Annapolis County but now appears to be Pictou County bound.
“I am thrilled to announce that our plans to open Gordonstoun Nova Scotia will still go ahead and the benefits of this famous school will still come to Canada.” said Ed Farren, the developer behind the school.
“Students will come from around the world and the teaching staff will possess outstanding international experience. The school will employ more than 100 people and will provide a payroll in excess of $16 million annually when in full enrollment.”
Distance to Halifax Stanfield International Airport and the Northumberland Strait seem to be part of the decision to locate in Pictou County. The school would have easier access to the airport and be able to offer sailing.
When the school was slated for development in Annapolis County the plan was for 600 students paying $67,000 per year in tuition.
Gordonstoun Nova Scotia would be a franchise of the famous Gordonstoun School of Scotland which features famous alumni including Queen Elizabeth II’s late husband, Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
