This app is awesome, we were having work done and the foreman of the job (spoke Spanish and English) had to leave to pick up supplies. The men only understood and spoke Spanish. We were at a loss and my niece suggested the Google Translator. We downloaded the app and were able to communicate with them. It was so easy to use and the men actually smiled when I spoke English and it came up on the screen in Spanish. It also works in reverse, they were able to talk to me in Spanish thru the app and I was able to read in English. It also has a voice option.

We traveled to Japan, Cambodia, and Thailand This year. There was at the time nothing downloadable for Cambodia but they speak Thai. NP. The app was extremely helpful on several occasions as we travel as a family without package tours and just hire generally taxis to do what we want for a negotiated price. The camera function to read is not exact and really doesn't work well. Why five stars? There is nothing I have seen better and people don't mind reading what you wish to say in their own language. And where you have internet you can speak into the app and have it speak back in their language and vice versa is totally awesome. It takes the awkwardness and stress totally away from communication. ( Almost ) . That being said the written and spoken translation from one language to another is NOT perfect. But when it's not it at least conveys the general idea. The only issue I have that needs to be fixed is the translation of numbers. Or lack thereof. It does not translate numbers to words. Big deal for me but probally not for most. Thus a 5 star.

OK translation app on the Fire OS. I can type the words or copy and paste but cannot get the microphone to work with it. I have changed keyboards and I have gone to the permissions for the app but do not see a way to turn the microphone on. Frustrating problem if you want to cbeck your pronunciation. The microphone works with a pure Android tablet or iOS. The translation is good. Not 100 per cent but pretty close.
