Ep 1. Episode 1

Frank Reagan is a retired NYPD officer who now enjoys playing by the book and living a quiet life with his police-appointed caretaker, Tony Caruso. However, Frank's son, Tony Reagan, couldn't be more different. Tony is an outspoken, quirky and sometimes even cluelessly reckless young detective with the NYPD who lives life on the edge. When Tony's excessive methods get him suspended from the force, he's forced to move in with his father, putting their lifestyle differences to the test.

In Episode 1, we see Tony return to work at the NYPD after being suspended for a year. Frank, wanting to welcome his son back with a gesture, sets up a small welcoming party with the family and some friends. However, Tony does not seem to be in the best mood, and Frank's gesture only seems to make things worse.

Frank has some ulterior motives for wanting his son to return to the force. He has a deep-seated desire to clear the name of his former partner, who was accused of a crime he didn't commit – and his best chance of accomplishing that is through his son. Though Tony is initially reluctant to take up this particular case, Frank is able to persuade him that it's the right thing to do.

Tony then meets his new partner, Cora Vasquez, and the two must work together to solve the case. Cora is a straight-laced, by-the-book detective who is not at all like Tony. In a sense, she's the complete opposite of him.

As the two detectives investigate the case, they end up learning more about each other and themselves than they expected. Tony's hotheadedness often makes for an interesting dynamic with Cora's more reserved and cautious approach, and his devil-may-care attitude often puts them both in jeopardy. However, they soon discover that their differences may be just what they need to solve the case – and to clear Frank's former partner's name.

Overall, the first episode of The Good Cop is a lighthearted drama about family, friendship, and what it means to do the right thing. It's packed with quirky characters, amusing situations, and an overarching mystery that hooks the viewer in from the start.
