Model 34 Gen 5 Trigger Pull Weight - Poor!

I just picked up my new Model 34 Gen 5 and found the trigger pull weight very disappointing. I measured it with my Lyman digital gauge and my RCBS gauge and it is running between 6.75 and 7.25 pounds. I was hoping for at least a 5 pound trigger pull or ideally 4.5. I know with some rounds through it - it will lighten up some. I don't want to burn a bunch of rounds thinking I'm going to reduce it by 2 pounds. If this is a waste of time should I look at modifying the stock trigger or purchasing an after market trigger? I have owned the following Glocks and none has had a trigger pull this bad - Glock's 17, 21, 26, 30SF, and 34 Gen 3.

Thanks

Did you clean the anti seize off of the connector/trigger bar? It can make the trigger really feel like crap - Glock only recently started putting on those parts. Leave it on everything else but clean off the connector/trigger bar and replace with oil.

I checked and there was no anti seize on the connector/trigger bar.
I contacted Glock and they referred me to their warranty department - very prompt reply to my email. They informed me if my Glock was labeled as having the 4.5 connector (which it does) a factory trigger pull weight of 6.5 pounds is within spec! They offered to check it out however I believe that would be a waste of time for them and me. I think a Glock 34 Gen 5 with a trigger pull weight of 7 pounds is totally unacceptable. I have read after a few thousand rounds the pull weight will get better. I am not going to waste my time and money in trying to lighten it a little. I live in south central Illinois and would appreciate any tips on Glock gunsmiths in my neck of the woods.

Thanks

Just replace the trigger bar, connector, and maybe THM with springy thingy for like 30 bucks. Make sure to lube the connector.

Does the striker lug (I threw in that nomenclature for our resident grammaton cleric), feel like crap when you pull it back? Crunchy and gritty? If you can change batteries in a television remote you are capable of swapping Glock parts.

You don’t have another Gen 5 laying around by any chance do you?

Where are you measuring the trigger pull at? As close as possible to the end of the trigger, or near the middle? If it is near the middle, then that would be in line with the rated 4.5 lbs given by the factory. When I measure the trigger right at the tip, I get right at 2.5 lbs and about 4.0 lbs in the center. Just a direct mathematical relationship based on the distance from the fulcrum point.

With the "-" connector, it should be well below that, as you said. There is something causing a lot of friction in there. You might want to start with a $0.25 cent trigger job and see what that gets you. And do not forget to smooth the plastic ribs in the right hand side of the chassis, where the trigger connector rubs, especially the last rib at the rear (do not remove, just smooth it with some 1000 grit and Flitz it with a high speed polishing wheel).

I don’t own a 34 but with my 45 which is a range only gun. I polished all trigger components along with the striker. Then I added a lightweight safety plunger spring, a 4.5lb striker spring and a different connector. I also added a overwatch precision trigger. Mine is currently pulling in the 3.25lb range which for me is perfect for a range or competition gun.
