the vexillological word for a pennant.
Red color is the sign of victory in war.
The blue border is the color of peace.

HISTORY
 The history of Nepal has been influenced by its position in the Himalayas and
its two neighbors, modern day India and China. Due to the arrival of disparate
settler groups from outside through the ages, it is now a multi-ethnic, multi-
cultural, multi- religious, and multi-lingual country.
 Neolithic tools found in the Kathmandu Valley indicate that people have been
living in the Himalayan region for at least eleven thousand years ago.
 Central Nepal was split in three kingdoms from the 15th century until the 18th
century, when it was re-unified under the Shah monarchy.
 Nepal experienced a struggle for democracy in the 20th century. During the
1990s and until 2008, the country was in civil strife. A peace treaty was signed
in 2008 and elections were held in the same year. In a historical vote for the
election of the constituent assembly, Nepalese parliament voted to oust
the monarchy in June 2008. Nepal became a federal republic and was formally
re-named the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

STATUS
Features of Nepalese Agriculture...
 Small, extremely diverse and landlocked Nepal confronts special
development challenges in the face of climate change.
 Its topography determines that only less than 20% of its land is
cultivable
 Yet about 33.1 % of its GDP and more than 50 % of its export
depend on agriculture
 Main source of food, income and employment for the great
Majority (65.7% of the population)
 Monsoon dependent and under developed
 Mixed farming system with domination of small holder farmers
(About 60% farmers)
 Low level of public and private investment

NEPAL- CHINA
RELATION
The relationship of Nepal and China is as old as
history. These two are the neighboring countries in
good relationship since pre-historical period. These
two countries have engaged in cooperative and
intimate relationship regarding religious, cultural,
economic, social and political aspects since the
centuries. The holy birth place of Lord Buddha,
Lumbini initiated with the Manjushree's visit to
Nepal has become the site of attraction for
Buddhist in studying and visiting for two thousand
years. In this context, Chinese pilgrims like Faxian's
and Xuan zang's fifth century visit to Lumbini and
Nepali Buddhist Scholars like Buddhabhadra
Shakya's effort in spreading Buddhist Buddhism in
China is "noteworthy". Likewise, Nepali princess
Bhrikuti's engagement to chinese Tibetan King
Songsten Gampo and artist Arniko's move to
construct Nepali architecture in Tibbet China and
Inside in China are also mention worthy. In such
way, Nepal-China relationship is seeded, and
flowering until now.

NEPAL-CHINA
RELATION
Generally, Nepal-China relation bloomed politically and diplomatically after the
establishment of People's Republic of China. More especially, the locus of
Nepal-China relationship begins with the diplomatic relationship established in
1955. After this intimacy with China, Nepal has been Advocating for China in
UN. September 30, 2016
65
NEPAL-CHINA
RELATION
In the same vein,
Nepal has been
insisting upon the
issues of regional
autonomy and human
rights of China
constantly. Inclination
of Nepal to the "One-
China" policy is the
aftermath of such
sprite. We Nepali
people, Nepal
government,
Nepalese political
parties are
wholeheartedly
determined to the
"One China Policy".

  • 34. HISTORY  The history of Nepal has been influenced by its position in the Himalayas and its two neighbors, modern day India and China. Due to the arrival of disparate settler groups from outside through the ages, it is now a multi-ethnic, multi- cultural, multi- religious, and multi-lingual country.  Neolithic tools found in the Kathmandu Valley indicate that people have been living in the Himalayan region for at least eleven thousand years ago.  Central Nepal was split in three kingdoms from the 15th century until the 18th century, when it was re-unified under the Shah monarchy.  Nepal experienced a struggle for democracy in the 20th century. During the 1990s and until 2008, the country was in civil strife. A peace treaty was signed in 2008 and elections were held in the same year. In a historical vote for the election of the constituent assembly, Nepalese parliament voted to oust the monarchy in June 2008. Nepal became a federal republic and was formally re-named the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.   September 30, 2016 34

  • 60. LUMBINI (BIRTH PLACE OF LORD BUDDHA) September 30, 2016 60
  • 64. NEPAL- CHINA RELATION The relationship of Nepal and China is as old as history. These two are the neighboring countries in good relationship since pre-historical period. These two countries have engaged in cooperative and intimate relationship regarding religious, cultural, economic, social and political aspects since the centuries. The holy birth place of Lord Buddha, Lumbini initiated with the Manjushree's visit to Nepal has become the site of attraction for Buddhist in studying and visiting for two thousand years. In this context, Chinese pilgrims like Faxian's and Xuan zang's fifth century visit to Lumbini and Nepali Buddhist Scholars like Buddhabhadra Shakya's effort in spreading Buddhist Buddhism in China is "noteworthy". Likewise, Nepali princess Bhrikuti's engagement to chinese Tibetan King Songsten Gampo and artist Arniko's move to construct Nepali architecture in Tibbet China and Inside in China are also mention worthy. In such way, Nepal-China relationship is seeded, and flowering until now. September 30, 2016 64 Maha Manjushree
  • 65. NEPAL-CHINA RELATION Generally, Nepal-China relation bloomed politically and diplomatically after the establishment of People's Republic of China. September 30, 2016 65
  • 66. NEPAL-CHINA RELATION In the same vein, Nepal has been insisting upon the issues of regional autonomy and human rights of China constantly.
