"The man was a superstar in every conceivable sense of the word. Though he hadn't written a note of his best work, his lovely, crooning, sonorous voice always gave the melodies he selected (and his ear for hits could not be applauded enough) the punch they needed to be pushed into true classic status. His musical partnership with Jimmy Webb has produced some of the best pop music ever recorded. Is it pop, though? Is it country? Who knows, and who cares?
What mattered was that Glen's music was a sheer delight to listen to, and his loss is everybody else's. I also feel it's worth commenting on what a phenomenal guitar player the man was. His jazz-inflected country style saw some of the most dizzying solos put to record, and some phenomenal improvisation on the stage. His sharp-picking and lightning-fast left-hand technique is a joy to listen to. The fact that he had a gorgeous voice, and always worked with the best songwriters and producers made his pantheon of work even better. A personal favourite, I'll miss him sorely."
