An overwrought melodrama with bold intentions but poor execution.

Essentially about loss, guilt and regret, Auburn's film also examines Julia's increasingly unhealthy obsession with her surrogate daughter, which gives it an air of uneasy tension that never amounts to much.

The film stretches credibility a little with the coincidences that could yet make Louise the missing girl, but gives the actors plenty to work with.

while there is a lot to like in Auburn's tightly focused film, it never fully pulls together.

Weaver's still unresolved grief, subtly hits every note that Changeling plinked or plonked like a honky-tonk hokum artist.

There's a prissy self-congratulation about early parts of David Auburn's family-bereavement drama, though it got to me eventually.

May 14, 2010A mother goes to the park with her little daughter. The mother looks away for a short time and her daughter is gone and she can't find her. Years later this mother gets divorced, has a difficult relationship with her son and still clings to the hope of finding her daughter again. She then meets a homeless teenage girl and she suspects this is her lost daughter and ends up spending a lot of time with her and trying to make up for all the time she was apart from her. This is a very catching and heartbreaking story. Weaver is at her best in this movie.Naughtia N Super Reviewer

Jul 10, 2009I have to admit to just getting bored with this movie to be honest. It started of great and there are some great performances - but it just didn't really go anywhere for me, it just seemed to drift along for a long time and then ended with no closure what so ever.........Samantha A Super Reviewer
