The stars are for the food. The reviews stating that the steaks were not good are incorrect. My husband and I are very into steak (from Texas) and the ribeye we got (ordered medium) was cooked perfectly. Coconut shrimp was great. Pot stickers were dry. Drinks were good. Old fashioned was the second best we’ve ever had (if I can enjoy drinking it that says something). Aside from our food, Ali’i, our hydration specialist (not sure if that was an actual title or just what he says), was the best part about the restaurant. He greeted us warmly and was attentive and charismatic the whole time. Other than him the service was a huge miss. The entire place felt cold and unwelcoming. Our server never even told us his name and plainly just wanted us out of there and picked up the check within seconds of my husband signing it. For a couple hundred dollars on a meal we would just expect better service as a whole. The word that describes our experience in general was cold. We won’t be back.

We drove up from Poipu for this restaurant, not a bad drive, and worth it for a different experience. The ambiance is lovely and we came a bit early to enjoy a cocktail and the views. The service was SO SLOW oh my goodness, and they did not even have a full restaurant. We went on Mothers Day, so we enjoyed a pre fixe, which we were initially a bit hesitant about, but ended up just fine. The potstickers and the sashimi were excellent, and were probably stars of the night. My pot pie was a bit bland, I’d skip that next time. Overall, a very nice evening, but would have been greatly improved with better service. Bar drinks took FOREVER, so did food. Our server, while a nice guy, was infrequent at our table.

This is a wonderful place. It is our second time here because our firt time a couple of years ago was outstanding.I had the Firecracker Amberjack and it was delicious and beautifully presented. My husband had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection and had a delicious sauce. We paired these with a Vermentino wine which was perfect, light , refreshing.The atmosphere was glorious, outside in front of the lighthouse, watching the ocean. The music set the ambiance. Carly, our waitress couldn't have been nicer and I appreciated her help with menu choices. This is a great restaurant and for sure we'll be back.

We absolutely loved our experience. The food was absolutely fantastic and their coffee was amazing. Kim and the other servers were very attentive and very friendly. The view is spectacular.

Great Island food, lots of great seafood. There isn't a better outlook on Kaua'i. The setting is open air, on a cliff above the Pacific Ocean, and optional outdoor seating (with umbrellas). While it is not cheap, the food is quality and the service is excellent. I definitely would recommend this to any person visiting the Island. It may seem like a bit of a trip to get there, it really is easy, with a pleasant drive through Hoku'ala golf course. Come for the view, enjoy the food.

Food was not impressive and dining area was very low key and very relaxed. View was impressive from outdoor bar; however, inside dining area windows needed to be cleaned. I would return to bar for pupu’s and cocktails but not the restaurant.

A wonderful meal, nice setting and great, accommodating, friendly service. The whole fried fish was a stunning presentation, and more than enough for 2 people. We came to watch the Saturday night Hula show and had dinner after. A very pleasant evening in every way. My wife has a food allergy and they went out of their way to make sure she ordered safely. One of the top eating spots in Kauai!

very fresh, high quality ingredients imaginatively prepared. we have dined there 6 times now. the kale caesar salad is great, the appetizers are first rate, especially the seared ahi. best place on the island to get fresh fish. service is friendly, professional and prompt. we had our 50th anniversary dinner there and they went out of their way to make it a special occasion for our entire family.

Great food that is uniquely inspired dishes. Must Order the whole fried fish!!! And ask for recommendations in terms of cocktails. Many are seasonal and flavored with local fruit and herbs.

We had a whole fried fish. It was large, so we split it and added salads and mashed potatoes. The fish was not seasoned, making it a little bland. The salads with goat cheese and honey were excellent. The lava cake was good. They do have kids meals as well. The view was amazing.

The food was good, but arguably over priced (even for Hawaii). It was really big portions for main dishes so maybe that was part of it. My lower rating is really due to the service. Our waitress was friendly but she rushed us the whole evening, even when we told her we were on a date night while on vacation and had a babysitter (a welcome reprieve!). Haulani’s was good if you’re in Lihue, but I would look to go somewhere else in the future for a different experience.

The whole fish pupu was so delicious! Cooked to perfection and lots to go around. We'll order that again. I would highly recommend it for a group of 4 or more. The staff was very knowledgeable, pleasant, and accommodating. Of course, the view is spectacular! But the bonus was the complimentary dessert for our birthday honorees.

My test for a restaurant is would I go back, the answer is “yes!” The ambiance is excellent, they also had entertainment, two ladies singing Hawaiian songs, they were great. The ocean bay view is spectacular you couldn’t ask for more. The menu is limited, bit good. Give it a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Delicious food, smaller portions. On the pricier side. Total bill for appetizers, drinks and entrees for four was about $380 with tip.
