With a plot as creaky as the boat, Ghost Ship fails to deliver the scares.

Hargie M film that sets sail with the promise of thrills but quickly sinks like a rusty anchor Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Justin T After a truly sick and therefore awesome opening sequence this film degrades into a dull ghost romp lacking character and originality. The scares are badly realised and lacking fear. This should not be watched except for the excellent quote one hour into the proceedings "Oh god you really are a funking ghost!" The ending was confusing and pointless. This is a very generic horror movie with a sick opening and dull ghost antics thereafter. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review SINETH "Ghost Ship" (2002) is for fans who crave horror, thrillers, and gore. I was so young when I watched this for the first time. But this is my third time watching this movie, and I still love that the opening scene takes an awesome, gruesome turn. "Ghost Ship" sets the tone for a blood-soaked odyssey. The movie seamlessly blends practical effects with eerie atmospherics, creating a visually stunning and terrifying experience. limbs are severed, blood spurts in abundance, and the ghostly setting of the abandoned Antonia Graza ship amplifies the horror to a bone-chilling level. The storyline won't break new ground. But I should mention the little girl Katie; she introduces a touch of humanity, making her a memorable and sympathetic presence in the midst of the maritime nightmare. I was hoping for a sequel to this back then because it has a few questions that remain. This flick excels at providing a bit of a pulse-pounding experience for fans of the unholy trinity of horror, thriller, and gore. Try to watch this on a larger screen with better audio. It's a visceral journey into the depths of terror that will leave you breathless and questioning every creak in the dark. If you're in the mood for an adrenaline-fueled ride on the high seas of horror... "Ghost Ship" (2002) is a #Must_watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review ANGELA J I love this movie. I am a horror fan and I think this movie is underrated. Lisa Schwarzbaum Entertainment Weekly Rated: C Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Kim Newman Empire Magazine Director Beck loses it, with techno-scored flashbacks (note: techno isn't scary) and blow-up-the-place gimmickry... Rated: 2/5 Dec 30, 2006 Full Review Trevor Johnston Time Out The final reel plots a course smack between predictable and sheer idiocy. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy As for the "shock" ending, it's the sort of feeble finale that has marred many a horror flick for approximately 40 years. Rated: 2/4 Oct 3, 2020 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Routine Dark Castle blandness, with the horror factory missing a prime opportunity to generate an interestingly grotesque chiller on the open sea. Rated: C Sep 21, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens Not a masterful script by veteran John Pogue and collaborator Mark Hanlon... it nevertheless gets the job done, thanks to Beck, Tattersall and Hobbs, giving us a haunting little tale set on the high seas, just perfect for a Halloween viewing.
