A wonderful place to visit near the ocean and close to Santa Monica. We stopped by for a few hours.

The exhibits are nice to look at. Many sculptures and paintings are on display. We went mostly because we enjoy the architecture and the gardens. They are lovely to wander through. Many of the plants have identifiers, so you know what you are looking at.

This is such a quiet, peaceful place to just hang out. They only let in so many people at a time, so it's not very crowded.

On a beautiful day, a trip to the Getty villa is a must.
The villa design was inspired by the Villa of the Papyri at Herculaneum site that was uncovered near Pompei.
The gardens are beautiful and the antiquities are well displayed.
The Getty Villa is dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria. The collection has a large number of Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities. The nice thing is everything can be seen in about 2.5 hours.
Even on Sunday, it was not crowded thanks to the reservation system.
It is also free but you pay $25 for the parking.

A museum dedicated to the collection of Greek and Roman art.
Founded by J. Paul Getty; a fine arts collector.
      This villa is beautiful!
Between the beautiful atrium and its gardens you can easily immerse yourself in the art.
The most impressive was their basilica among other impressive statues. I won't say much more so that I don't take away from the experience.

You'll need about 2 hours to go through the entire museum without the audio tours.

Parking cost is $20 dollars and it's easily accessible.

I would like to state that you'll need to make a reservation
Ahead of time as that is the only way to get in.
      Don't worry it's completely free.

You can have a nice lunch in their cafe and enjoy the views.

Will def be back again to bring anyone who doesn't know of this gem!

Such an iconic and beautiful place with so much history. Beyond the beautiful views and weather is so much architectural and historical importance and nuances. Was such an incredible place to visit & super family friendly too!

We had to reserve tickets July 2023 and paid for parking on site (I think $20).

I love this museum! Focus on ancient Greek/Roman/Etruria/Egyptian. Gorgeous location with amazing views modeled after a villa in Herculanum. Free but need reservation!

This was my first time visiting this place. It is so pure and quiet that the sound of children makes me laugh and that is hard to do! In today's world television is so much that seeing a place where children can be free and safe yet learn is so much more important and satisfying. At this point we are raising the world's babies so I see myself as a child. A nice family spot with reasonable food and not to mention you're by the beach! Enjoy and stop reading! It's getting cold also perfect for field trips, disabled people and full security.

I absolutely LOVE the Getty Villa! It is the absolute GOAT museum! Every other time I go down to Los Angeles I try my best to visit!

The Getty Villa is located in Pacific Palisades near Will Rogers Beach and off PCH. The exit for the museum comes quickly and you might miss it if you're driving too fast, so be sure to pay attention when you get close. Once you exit, you'll find the Villa tucked away in the hills that overlook the Pacific Ocean. The elevated point allows for breathtaking views and a crisp, ocean breeze. Admission is always free, but you do you have to pay for parking.

The Villa features antiquities from the Stone Age, Mesopotamia, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, and more, with constantly rotating exhibits. The architecture of the buildings that house the antiquities are state-of-the-art (no pun intended) and nothing looks out of place. The Villa's campus is huge so you might need to ask for help locating specific exhibits, although paper maps are available near the entrance.

However, the Villa might be most famous for their picturesque pools and outdoor gardens. The landscaped shrubbery combined with stone benches allow for incredible photography! You really have to see it for yourself! Walking through the gardens is exceptionally relaxing and makes you feel like you're vacationing as an aristocrat in Ancient Rome.

For food and drink you'll find an on-site café that serves sandwiches, charcuterie boards, snacks, wine, and more. For a museum café I find the food very solid! Options are limited, but if you're in a rush and just want to eat before an exhibit it's a great option. They also have a cart that offers coffee, tea, and snacks.

Probably my favorite part of the Villa is their 'timed entrance' policy. This means visitors must show up at a specific time so the museum doesn't get too crowded. This a '180' of the Villa's sister museum, the Getty Center, which seemingly is always mobbed (tourist central lol).

The Villa also offers a nice gift shop which is always a plus!

In the end, if you're looking for something fun and different I highly recommend the Getty Villa! I'm very into "experiences" these days and there's nothing else like this spot in the US. You truly feel like you're in Italy! This is the spot for history buffs, museum lovers, photographers, and those just looking to relax. A+++++
