This theater is not going to win reviews off of its aesthetic, but it more than makes up for that in its extremely affordable ticket prices. In a field where ticket costs are rising, the Geneva movie plex keeps its tickets affordable so you can take the whole family out for a great time at the theater!

I was a little hesitant to come here based on reviews but overall it's a good place to see a movie. It's fairly large for a smaller town and recently had The Lion King playing in 4 theaters.

The prices are not bad, especially for matinees. The popcorn is good. The bathrooms could use some attention.

The staff had been perfectly pleasant and helpful.

Let me start by saying...I miss the old theater in down Geneva. It was crazy old school..meaning, historic. In a historic old building, well..an old theater, lol.
It closed years ago. I remember waiting in line for movies at that theater that went all the way down the street, lol. The '89 Batman movie...yeah, I'm kinda old lol. I was like 12 tho haha or something.
After it closed, it was empty for awhile and then became a play spot for kids; birthday parties and whatnot. Now? Now it's a brewery. A new one.
I just think they should have left it a theater...then giving Geneva two movies theaters.
I can't remember when the "new" theater opened. The one I checked into for this review.
But when you go in, you know right away that it's been there awhile. It's kinda rundown.
There's not much to do for kids in Geneva.
Growing up in this area, Geneva was our spot to go.
Know what we did during the Summer? We walked around town. That's what kids did back then lol. Then, we'd run into people that way or we would be like "let's walk over to Wegmans and see who's sitting at the picnic table!" Or "we gonna walk over to Sunoco to see if we can find someone to bum a smoke off of" hahaha!
THAT ....or we went to the movies.

Lemme get back to Movieplex lol.
They have, like, 8 theaters, I think? It located in another spot we would all go to as kids.."the plaza" lol.
It's privately owned. So I guess when that's the case, they don't see the need to update it or ...clean it lol.
I mean, I hate knocking a place back here, because I always love coming home and revisiting my past.
This place wasn't part of it tho haha! I still feel bad because Geneva is a very small city. It's not like we can expect an AMC or and Edward's type of theater, but c'mon, ya know?
Not much to do here...so the theater does very well. So imo, there's really no reason for it to be as dirty and old-ish as it is, know what I mean?
Anyway, it has all the mainstream movies that are out...ya know, the top 8 or whatever.
It's $10.50 for an adult. Tad pricey for a small town theater. Also, with that, I mean...fix it up, yo!
They attempted a few years ago to clean up the mens bathroom, or it appeared that way when I was in there few years back. But the bathrooms are nnnnnaaaappppyyyyy! Tons of employees! One can't get in there to scrub it down? Looks like a college dorm bathroom, Haha! Wait! Those get cleaned every day hahahaha!

Ok, now for the positive aspects of it.
They have theaters that have full on, electric recliners. For a small town theater, that's kinda cool and they are super comfortable.
No idea how they keep them clean and how they aren't all broken hahaha! We all know and have seen how scummy people get at the movies. So disrespectful some of them.
The staff: very friendly. They are your classic Geneva folk. People from Geneva will either be mad at that last part or totally agree with me, Haha!
Just a kickback attitude, they all have. All very nice people
Snacks, I guess are reasonably priced compared to the bigger theater companies. You won't feel robbed when buying a small popcorn lol. AMC, a small is like $500 dollhairs lol, Geneva..it's like $3 bucks or something lol.
I dunno, aside from the scrubbing it needs and a few updates, it's not a bad place. It's classic "small town feel"
In the lobby, they need to brighten it up a bit. It's so damn dark in there. I know it's a movie theater, but dang, turn a light on! Seems so depressing in that lobby lol.
They have student discounts, like a dollar off
Seniors (older peeps, not seniors in school lol) are $7.50 and I think the kids are like $6.50. So those prices are pretty decent.
I guess that's it, ya'll! Thanks for reading!
I hope this was a fair balance of good vs bad of this place. I hate saying anything bad about places back here, but I hate lying even more. I love to be brutally honest in my reviews and life in general. Why lie? Ya know?
      Anyway, thanks again, peeps!
I will say this one last bit...Geneva movieplex vs the theater in Canandaigua...OMG GO TO GENEVA BEFORE CANANDAIGUA'S!
Canandaigua's is just, omg, so weird! And they only take cash!!! Seriously, wtf! Haha!
So there, Geneva's is good. It's Radio City Music Hall compared to Canandaigua hahaha!

      Cheers!

We visit here a few times a year. The theater is clean and spacious. The food is normal theater food. The staff is helpful. The bathrooms could definitely be cleaner though.

This place could be great. It really could. Good sound system, relatively comfortable chairs, good prices. However, when we went to see Black Panther on Wednesday, the crowd was ridiculous. There were several people having full conversations throughout the ENTIRE movie, despite being shushed or flat out told to shut up several times. Some guy had a dog that was obviously NOT a trained service animal, as it started barking at kids coming back in from the bathroom, and one lady took no less than THREE phone calls, where she loudly carried on a conversation before being yelled at by several people to go to the lobby. Even the 10 year old kid in her group was shushing her. She finally did leave. Sort of. She actually stood in the theater doorway and we could still hear everything.
While people should know basic theater etiquette, this is clearly a management issue. There was NO worker presence throughout the ENTIRE film. Not ONE check by workers or management, even though we were in theater 1, which is closest to the front. Ridiculous.

I was a brat who grew up in a movie theater (my dad managed) so I have extremely high standards. Unfortunately, I seem to be let down when I go out to the movies because most employees don't put the same effort into customer service, theater cleanliness, and other things that my dad used to.

I've been to Geneva movieplex a few times, and have not really been impressed. They've never really done anything "above-and-beyond" and that's okay. But there were a few times when I had a really BAD experience there, which is why they only get 3 stars.

The one that stands out most is a time I took my daughter to see the most recent midnight showing of Twilight. (Don't judge!)

We had advance tickets, but as you'd expect there is still a crowd. They were prepared at least, with the opening night showing in 3 different theaters. According to our tickets we were in Theater 3, which was absolutely full.

Now there might have been an open seat here and another way over there, but obviously we needed to sit together so I went out to ask if we could go into another theater to watch it.

The employee was EXTREMELY rude and inconsiderate, she just told me "No! You have to watch it in your assigned theater." I told her there were no open seats left and she quite blatantly called me a liar, explaining their system won't let them overbook. She didn't even bother to go in and see the situation for herself, just brushed me off as a liar.

Oh well, when she wasn't looking I took my daughter into a different theater where- get this- there were only 5 other people! Plenty of room for us, and that was the last time I'll ever go to that theater.

Aside from that, it seems there is always some sticky mess and spilled popcorn that doesn't get cleaned up between movies, so the cleanliness isn't up to par. But if that doesn't bother you, and all you expect from a theater is to show your movie- your experience might not be so bad.

this movie theater is great! other than some of the staff! me and my friends came to see a movie and one of the staff gave us 1 warning for "being too loud" so we got quieter. we started talking not loud at all and she said next time she saw us talking wed be asked to leave without a refund. other than that this moving theater was AMAZING!

Was a horrible experience. The room had trash all over the floors and it looked like someone stepped on the chairs with muddy shoes. They obviously didn't take any time cleaning. They even had a sign in the bathrooms saying "sorry for the mess". I don't understand how it was so messy when they had more than enough employees working there. I will not be going back or recommend this place.

Last night, I went to a movie in Geneva. Half way through the movie, the film stopped. Several people in the movie searched the theater for an employee and found no one. Some called the theater but couldn't reach anyone. Finally, someone found some employees hiding upstairs in an office. The movie came back on after thirty minutes. No employee apologized afterwards or even showed their face.
