General Perry Benson Chapter Celebrates 56th Anniversary
May 1, 2021 Miles River Yacht Club, St. Michaels, Md
Merry and maskless, some 30 members of the General Perry Benson Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) celebrated the chapter’s 56th anniversary May 1, at the Miles River Yacht Club. A fully vaccinated crowd allowed for a maskless luncheon and an entertaining group of members who commemorated the 56th milestone by wearing what they wore in 1965! Representing the Maryland State DAR were Maureen Tipton, State Regent, and Mernie Crane, State Vice Regent.
The luncheon welcomed 8 new members, honored those who died in recent years and awards current members for various acts of service to the DAR and the community. Those projects include supporting schools and scholarships, ceremonies honoring veterans, conservation and preservation of historical places and records and Wreaths Across America.
In addition, Chapter officers were recognized for their contributions such as sewing 500 masks, donating purses filled with toiletries for women in need and maintaining the Gen. Benson Cemetery in Newcomb.
We welcome our new slate of offices for the term 2021-2023 and look forward to their leadership .
