Staying at Edelweiss is great for the location, the price, the hot tub, and the service-- but I especially enjoy it at those times when you just miss the US. The restaurant (Zuggy's) and the breakfast in the morning are filling and affordable, and the hotel offers help booking e-bikes, tours, etc. Definitely recommend it if you're in the area!

So happy to give you a taste of home in Bavaria. We are a really great stepping stone to all the incredible activities here in Garmisch. Thanks for the great recommendation.

My spouse and I booked three nights over the Veteran's Day weekend. This was my second stay at this resort, with the first visit being a business conference several years ago. The property is not a bargain for us, and although there were a lot of good points we were wishing we had simply booked a smaller property downtown. The underground parking is nice. The staff at the desk and in the dining areas were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities both on the property and within an hour's drive. We had a standard double room that was clean and spacious but lacked comfortable chairs. The property is very family friendly, and if you have children or teens, this will probably appeal. If you're part of the more sedate crowd who craves a bit of quiet, it might not be for you. The common areas, and in particular the dining rooms, resembled the scene at a Chuckee Cheese. Children running, shouting, and playing loud videos is norm and there is no place to escape it, not even the downstairs bar. The management might consider designating a small dining area for adults only - a place where someone could eat or enjoy a quiet conversation away from the fray. It's a nice property in many respects, but I can't say we enjoyed it.

We stayed at the Edelweiss Lodge and resort for a week and had such a relaxing fun time. The surrounding area is just breathtaking! The rooms are spacious and well kept. We were surprised by how nice everything was for how little it cost. We ended up doing the breakfast buffet because it was convenient and helped our toddler to be content in the morning. The food was good, not the best breakfast I have had, but worth it for the convenience. The parking garage made coming and going easy the automatic doors were a nice touch. Our son loved the kid pool, the larger pool, and the hot tub. The hot tub was a reasonable temperature and at 8:30 pm is limited to just adults which is nice. If you qualify to visit, I highly recommend this resort!

I'm guessing this hotel has seen better days. Apparently, it is mismanaged. One of the 2 main elevators was out of service 4 of the 7 days of our stay and there is no telling how long it took to be repaired. The buffet area is only open on weekends. The tables were a complete mess. There were no coffee cups at the coffee station. Food where and when offered is really bad. For example, breakfast sandwiches are pre-assembled and zapped in the microwave.

The rooms are worn. The coffee maker in the room works but the coffee pellets make only weak just barely brown water.

I wanted to use the laundry facilities to have clean clothes to wear on the trip home. The change machine was out of order our entire stay and there was no change at the resort. Machines only accept us quarters.

The music at the bar is horrible pop music and it doesn't deviate. The food at the bar is us bar food. The bartender was apparently instructed to short pour in alcohol. I watched her measure using a jigger and it was well below an ounce each time.

There is a casino room (?) With machines but there is no pool table or dart board. No board games.

Our visit was during Christmas. The main lobby was poorly decorated with worn dirty small silk arrangements. The huge fireplace occasionally had a fire but it was always very small.

We paid as much per night as 179 US. I wish we had gone elsewhere.

Incredible location with amazing views. The food is the worst. We ate two dinners and two breakfasts. The breakfast buffet is ok but the dinners wouldn't be quality enough for MREs. Resort prices for food starving children wouldn't eat. Save money by staying at one of the many hotels that offer the same quality rooms and closer to off base restaurants.

I shared your experience with our staff. We take each customer comment as an opportunity to improve our services for future guests. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We know how important starting your day is with a great breakfast. We have made big changes to our breakfast offer like bringing in locally baked bread, our coffee is now locally roasted, we installed our own garden to grow fresh herbs, and have our own beehives working hard to make fresh honey. We apologize that your experience left a negative experience on your vacation. We continue to find ways to bring a fresh farm-to-table approach to the guest experience. We are hopeful to have another opportunity to show you some of our fresh offers for dinner and breakfast.

I don’t know where to start, no more nice stuffs for our military and dependents. It’s all out fleecing now $200 a night for a room with no air conditioning a morning with no breakfast included, no hair conditioner, really?? WTH, MWR or who ever is running this joint this is absolutely shameful, the nice sign at check-in doesn’t have the water flowing, the water fall at the hot-tub don’t work, the tile around the hot-tub is broken, the slot machines are broken, the elevators are broken, there’s no more fine dining or the awesome Sunday brunch, but still charging an arm and a leg to sweat/sleep here. This place sucks now, stay in town with A/C , breakfast, close to everything and it’s half the cost!!

The lodge stated they make money from conferences and care less about family stay. Don’t expect things to run right unless there is a large conference. Rooms are nice but aging. Check that appliances work as soon as you check in. ensure you have time to wait for repairs before planning trips. If you book a trip with the hotel and you are only on a wait list you can still be charged. Be sure to check charges before leaving the facility and make sure you account for time to wait for management to drive from a different location to dispute charges.

As a military retiree I have long wanted to visit the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort in Germany and finally got the chance in Germany. Spent several days here with family and we had a great time. First and foremost the staff at this resort are wonderful. Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice and had a view of the mountains. We came in January to Ski and so some hiking and we got to do it all. Very good ski resorts here and while we visited the Downhill championships were taking place. Very busy place so parking was a little difficult at the Ski areas and downtown but we managed. The resort has several places to eat.....a great buffet breakfast for $15 adult. They have an outdoor hot spa.....in door pool. The Christmas decorations were still up and they were amazing. Wonderful gift shop here. You can walk to some Ski lifts and to town or take a bus. They have a back gate to save time. The rooms are charged by military Rank but I never had any idea who was what in the resort as everyone had on civilian clothes. Wonderful place and we plan to return during the summer.

Staff is mediocre, not friendly but not rude. Our waitress at one of the grills was pleasant. Facilities aren’t anything to rave about. Having a dog makes you feel like you don’t deserve to have as nice of a stay as others. I suggest you bring your own instant coffee. The Pullman Cafe’s coffee is worse than watered down Folgers and at $3.00 for a medium (more like a small), they do not offer free refills (it’s the little things). Coffee doesn’t have to be expensive to be good. Many conveniences and no language barrier but will stay elsewhere in the future.

We are sorry your experience didn't exceed your expectations. We appreciate your feedback as an opportunity to improve. Our dog rooms are equipped with hard wood floors and have a separate entrance. It is true we don't allow dogs to be in any common area of the hotel. That is for the safety, cleanliness and comfort for the majority of our guests. We understand that may make you feel that you are not welcome to use the facilities. You can, just without the dog. Our Pullman Cafe Coffee is locally roasted in Garmsich and have received favourable reviews. Sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay. We hope you will give us another try in the future.

What happens when a beautiful facility in a wonderful alpine village is entrusted to government employees? A whole lot of disappointment! The housekeeping staff does not want to clean, the restaurant is always closed, the food at the bar is gross. Management here should be replaced. The interns running the place just want a free trip to Europe. Management is failing these kids by letting them think this is how to treat guests and run a hotel. And failing the Servicemen and women who stay here. Taxpayer dollars are being wasted keeping underperforming managers and lazy interns employed here and the guests suffer.

I'm sorry but we did not have an issue as we drove ourselves with our sponsor in the car. I would suggest contacting the front desk directly an posing the question to them.

No, not really, I'm afraid, I beleive that the ID card holder must be on a business trip/conference etc. Since there are so many different access permissions available it will be good to contact the hotel directly
