Mildred Elois Fore Newby

Mrs. Mildred Elois Fore Newby age 86 of Highway 31 in Brewton, passed away Thursday evening March 5, 2015, at a Jay health care facility after a brief illness. Mrs. Newby was a native of Fannie, AL, and a life-long resident of the Brewton area. She was owner/operator of Newby’s Pawn & Gun and was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters,  Becky (Ken) Bethea of Brewton,  Joyce (Quinn) Miller of Flomaton, Judy (Keith) Simms of Brewton; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Roy Newby.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Elois Fore Newby were hedl Sunday March 8, 2015  at Craver’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dustin Stockstill officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Brewton.

Pallbearers were George Jackson III, Chris Saxon, Chad Saxon, Richie Brantley, Darryl Fore and Cain Ledbetter.

John Douglas Rabon

John Douglas Rabon 93 of Excel, passed away March 5, 2015, in Monroeville. He was born May 26, 1921, in De Ridder, LA to the late John Wesley and Della Rabon. Mr. Rabon helped his father in the turpintine business in Osaka, AL. He served with the 26th Bombardment Squadron as an Aerial Gunner during WWII and was honorably discharged from the United States Army-Air Force. He had worked at WABB Radio Station for over 20 years and retired in 1985. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gloyce Rabon; and two grandchildren, Michael Rabon and Lee Rabon.

He is survived by his two sons, Joe Darryl (Edy) Rabon of Long Beach, CA and George Douglas (Vikki) Rabon of Gulf Shores; one daughter Devita R. (Daryl) Day of Excel; grandchildren, Kimberly Dean (Justin) Myers, Joe Darryl (Bridget) Rabon, Jr., Amy Rabon (Seth) Goldman, George Wesley Rabon, Christopher Randall Kinsey and Jon Michael Bell; great-grandchildren, Heaven Rabon, Madelaine Myers, Cohen Myers, Abby Rabon, Aiden Douglas Rabon, Jody Goldman, Kylie Goldman, William Flowers and Madelaine Gray Kinsey.

Graveside services will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors and Bro. Justin Myers officiating.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

George William Bridges

March 8, 2015

Mr. George William Bridges, 80, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, in Pensacola.

Mr. Bridges was a native of Leavenworth, Washington and a resident of Atmore for the past 40 years. His mother-in-law, Reva McGhee and brother, Gordon Morrison, precede him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Betty Joyce Bridges of Atmore; son, Robin Jay of Atmore; two daughters, Kelly (Jay) Milstid of Stockton and Patricia Cameron; grandchildren, Meghan Cameron, Ethan Powell, Skylyn Milstid and Chason and Ashley Jay and special friend, Annice and Don Atwell of Dothan.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. William Bubba Rolin officiating.

Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jay Kenny Milstid, Robin Jay, Chason Jay, Larry Jackson, Don Atwell and Matthew Luker.

Daisy Marie Seals Porter

March 8, 2015

Daisy Marie Seals Porter entered into glory on March 4, 2015. She was born February 6, 1928, in Chumuckla.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert H. Porter, Jr. Together they served the congregation of Farm Hill Holiness Church in Cantonment for 43 years. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Viola Joiner Seals, four brothers and one sister and a very dear daughter in law, Brenda Porter.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters, Bobby (Earlene) Porter, Bert Porter, Ben (Donna) Porter; and Bernard Porter, Betty (Larry) Houck, and Bonnie (Ron) Carnley. Also left to cherish her memory are 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

The family wishes to express a special “Thank You” to a special family friend, Mrs. Susie Conners, for her faithful service to the Porter family. A special thanks also to Mrs. Jean Sawyer, Dr. Sheldon Harigel and the staff at Atmore Community Hospital for their compassionate care of mom.

Funeral services were held at Farm Hill Holiness Church on Madrid Road in Cantonment on Saturday, March 7, 2015.

Services were conducted by Rev. Clyde Hughes and Rev. Ronald Hall.

Pallbearers were Craig Kast, Brian Porter, Caleb Taylor, Dayton Porter, Billy Stacey and Kelly Perry.

Honorary pallbearers are all members of the Farm Hill Holiness Church.

Burial services will follow at the Morgan Cemetery on Highway 29 in Molino.

Clarence William Weaver

March 8, 2015

Clarence William Weaver, 84 of Atmore, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his beloved wife “Liz” on Thursday, March 5, 2015. He was born in McCullough on April 18, 1930, to the late Stiner and Grace Phillips Weaver. He started his working career at Atmore Trucker’s, then later Kaiser Agriculture followed by Escambia County Alabama Road department. He was a member of Judson Baptist Church. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth “Liz” Weaver; twin brother, Claude Weaver; brother, Cecil Weaver; sister, Louise Wilson; infant brother and infant sister Vella Ray Weaver.

Survivors include two sons, Earl (Anita) Weaver of Atmore and Bob (Delores) Livingston of Jacksonville; two daughters, Faye (Colvin) Murph of Bay Minette and Gloria Presley of Cantonment; siblings, Donald Ray (Peggy) Weaver of Atmore, Earline (James) Burkett of Atmore and Alice (Dick) Walsh of Pensacola; 11grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 2 p.m. from the Judson Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Wilson, Rev. Brett Chancery and Rev. C.L. Langford officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Walter Leon Langley

Mr. Walter Leon Langley, 80, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015, in Atmore.

Mr. Langley was a native of Perdido and a lifetime resident of Atmore. Mr. Langley was a United States Army Veteran. His father, Jessie James Langley; mother, Effie Mae Langley; grandson, Jacob “Cob” Lisenby; two sisters, Flossie Hadley and Ruby Hall; and Brother, William “Bill” Langley, precede him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rosemarie Langley; son, Raymond (Linda) Langley; daughter, Angela (Marlin) Gunn; brother, Tommy (Claudette) Langley; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Monica) Lisenby and Karl Langley; two great-grandchildren, Lane and Jakelyn Lisenby and seven step-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Don Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Jones, Ryan Malone, Tab Jerningan, Kalab Jernigan, Christopher Roland and Chase Reid.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Helton, Ronnie English, Tony Wheeler, Gene Wheeler, Todd Booker and Dale Turk.

Rex Miller Raley

March 7, 2015

Rex Miller Raley, 33 of Elberta, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015, in Atmore. He was employed in sales. He was born in Mobile on November 16, 1981, to Carl Hagood and Hope Elizabeth Miller Raley, Jr. He was a graduate of Hunting College with a degree in Business. Rex was an athlete and an avid outdoorsmen.

Survivors are his mother, Hope Miller Zeanah of Montgomery; father, Carl Hagood (Sara) Raley, Jr of Elberta; grandparents, James and Charlotte Miller of Robinsonville and Betty Raley of Atmore; sister, Holly Raley (Barrett) VanSise of Fairhope; uncle Russell Miller of Robinsonville; nephew, Sillivan VanSise and niece, Graysen VanSise.

Services will be Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 4 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church Of Atmore with Rev. Debora Bishop and Bro. Richard Crawford officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Barrett VanSise, Matthew Peyer, Matthew Burgess, Fred Woerner, Dusty Cole, Hooper Matthews and Wade Matthews.

Family will receive friends, Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church Of Atmore from 2:30 p.m. until service time.

Charles O. “Ray” Carraway

March 5, 2015

Charles O. “Ray” Carraway, 85, of Pensacola passed away Monday, March 2, 2015.

Mr. Carraway was born in Nokomis, AL and moved to Century where he met his wife of 59 years. They married on June 8, 1956. They moved to Pensacola in 1961 where they raised a family. Ray was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing, and was a sweet gentle soul who loved making his girls happy. Ray loved making people laugh and always had a joke, prank or a story to tell to make you smile. His smile would light up a room and he will forever be our guardian angel.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carole J. Carraway; daughters, Tammy Shoop (Ron) and Cindy Rodwell (Bill); six grandchildren, Roxanne, Aaron, Jared, January, Alex and Ben; and seven great-grandchildren, Camryn, Ian, Kendal, Sophie, Sabastian, Natalie and Wyatt.

Services were held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Thursday, March 5, 2015, with Reverend Bill Flannigan officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Plainview Baptist Church.

Rita Foster

March 4, 2015

Rita Foster, of Cantonment, age 66, lost her battle with cancer on Saturday, February 28, 2015. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and christian. As the wife of a retired Naval Aviator and pastor, she lived all over the world. Along the way she fulfilled her life’s desire to become a mother and each of her sons have grown to be good and caring men. Her love was her greatest gift to the world. She lit the world with her smile and had the most infectious laugh. She loved deeply and cared greatly for everyone around her. She was involved in her church and supported her husband greatly during his 21 years in the Navy followed by 22 years of service at Marcus Pointe Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; three sons, Craig, Jim (Kristina) and John; granddaughters, Briana and Elise; two brothers, Michael and Skip (Dee) Wayman, and mother, Margaret Wayman.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Godfrey, Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5  p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice in Pensacola.

Cleta R. Eick

March 4, 2015

Cleta R. Eick, 71 of McDavid, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015.

Mrs. Eick was born on September 8, 1943, to the late Allen and Helen Clanton Casady in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Eick.

She is survived by her children, Craig Eick, Paula Eick and Erick Eick; and her grandchildren, Julia Eick, Jaeden Johnson, and Ryan Eick.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
