When I heard it was Ann Arbor’s restaurant week, I definitely wanted to check it out. This was my first restaurant week and I am sad to say that it was disappointing. Inda, Lora, and I decided to try out Gandy Dancer, an upscale, historic restaurant located in the Michigan Central Depot. The ambience and atmosphere were lovely, but this was not ideal for an intimate setting. Not only was the noisy Amtrak disrupting dinner, but every time the train went by, the guests would clap. This reminded me of the annoying triple clap that occurs in MJR theaters right before the movie starts. ...

Stopped here for lunch recently. Very charming restaurant with great history. Very nice lunch and cocktail options. Food and service are good.
Extreme disappointment. Did not honor reservation request and violated Disability Act. Made two 92 year olds walk upstairs without restrooms with canes . Staff unprofessional, no empathy, and rude. Corporate office not helpful. Food marginal and not worth the price. Do not patronage such an establishment.

Completely RUINED what was supposed to be a celebratory meal. Terrible management and below satisfactory food. Not worth the extremely high prices. BEWARE.
Average food, exceptional waiter. Food was fine, but I expected more for the price. However, our server Bob was truely exceptional.
I’ve passed by the charming Gandy Dancer many times on the way to the Amtrak train station, and while I’ve heard that it is a much-loved Ann Arbor classic, I somehow never visited it before.  We went for Happy Hour drinks and snacks before the annual medical school Smoker musical, and had a great time. ...

The Gandy Dancer is a charming restaurant in Ann Arbor’s former train depot. The building is cobblestone and handsomely decorated in a 19th century style. In addition to its role as a popular restaurant, it’s also an architectural landmark.     When I was a little girl, my mom would close our kitchen every Friday and we would eat at a different restaurant. My favorite dinner was always at the Gandy Dancer because my mom always requested a table by the window. During dinner, trains to and from Chicago would whiz past, to my delight.     Odd but true, 30 years later when I returned we requested a table by the window { Open Table , special request box, folks!} and I was still delighted to see the trains pass by.     The ambiance at the restaurant is romantic and pleasant. The prices are high, but it’s a fine dining restaurant.   The restaurant is part of a larger family of seafood restaurants, the Landry’s restaurant group. Despite...

Too bad. The Charlie's Chowder was really Charlie's broth. So disappointing . So unlike the really good chowder at Charlie's Crab. Husband felt his very small serving of divers scallops were either underage or,actually, from the bay.
Not good. Big family gathering for my son's graduation and a terrible disappointment. 12 people total. Food was flavorless and way way way too expensive. Our total with tip was over $900 and we had just two drinks and no desserts. They took us because they were so busy with graduation dinner parties. Never going there again.
Wonderful ambiance. Great service. Delicious food!!! This is a must go-to!!!
