First of all, the waitress was new and I think some of the issues were due to that. She was very nice, doing her best and we tipped her well. We had the lobster bisque (delicious), gazpacho (mostly croutons and sour cream, would not order again), scallops with pea and mushroom risotto (delicious but I didn’t care for all the thick slices of mushrooms) and prime rib. The prime rib arrived cold. By the time I finished the scallops my partner got a new prime rib that was very dry. Would not order again. It took a long time to get drinks (the Spicy Cucumber was awesome) and the side of asparagus. The creme brulee was delicious. We ended up being rushed at the end (with food and paying the check) because of how long things took and we had a concert to get to. So a little hit and miss but we would go back again.

This restaurant is a unique destination designed beautifully. You can catch a glimpse of an occasional train passing through at high speeds. The tables settings create a classic comfortable dining experience. Although the restaurant was very busy the kitchen staff somehow kept the flow of plated dishes coming ! The Staff works extremely hard and teamwork is evident. The dynamite Mahi Mahi was prepared wonderfully. The new York strip was cooked to perfection and trimmed well without any fat.

Great birthday party for my son 21 st anniversary… Food , win , champagne, cocktails… fish , chop pork , tuna tartar , desert … all great and good .. A great place with very kind people.. Best restaurant ever ! Thanks

We went to Gandy Dancer for my daughter’s 21st Birthday. We’ve been to Ann Arbor about 9-10 times in the last three years and it was the best meal we’ve ever had by UoM! Please give our compliments to Chef Mark Sanchez! The oysters were very high quality and ever appetizer, entree and desert was 10/10

Gandy Dancer is a favorite, the food is always good and usually so is the service. This time, however, the service was lacking. Our waiter was very nice but not good. We didn't have time to finish our appetizer before our salads came. He asked if we wanted him to bring it back. "There's no room on the table and we're still eating," we told him. Then we had to wait a very long time to receive our salad. We had to ask for bread, ask to have our water glasses filled. One of the main entrees was not hot and what should've taken a few minutes took so long that I was almost done with my meal before the other entree was brought back. I tried to hold off but my meal was getting cold. Waiter checked on us one time only. We had to rely on another waiter to help us. Disappointed but perhaps he is new. I'll be back I just won't sit at his table. Food is great, however.

We were seated at table for 4 along wall across from West windows and there was a table of 8 at window. The tables and chairs were so close waiters and diners could not get through. We had to ask to be moved - this should have been thought of before anyone was seated. Once we were moved, it was a pleasant experience with very good food.

Our server was Sarah Kate. She could not have been more friendly and knowledgable! She was one of the best servers we have had in a long time, and we dine out at least twice a week. Our table was never in need for anything; she anticipated our every need. The kitchen sent my food out incorrectly, and she had it re-preprepared and out to our table in minutes. The speed of the correction was stellar! And kudos to the manager for bringing the correct plate out to me with an apology and to verify my meal’s correctness. And cannot forget the rest of the staff. The dining room staff were superior to other establishments! If we had a finished plate at the end of the table, within moments it was removed. Everyone was very friendly, and truly seemed to like working at the Gandy Dancer. Thank you again for a wonderful meal.

Everything about our experience was wonderful. We really appreciated that it wasn’t too noisy - even with a table of 9 we could all hear eachother. Great service, atmosphere & menu

The two ladies at the front desk were exceptionally helpful and explained the history of this unique location. Dane the manager was very attentive as was the waitress Stacy who made excellent recommendations that were perfect. Definitely a local gem.

Our dinner was actually a surprise birthday dinner. The hostesses were amazing allowing us time before our reservation to set up table decor. There were 12 of us, our server, Zoey, was AMAZING. She was just the right amount of attentive. The food was delicious, everyone commented how good their food tasted. Overall a great experience!!

The Gandy Dancer has always been a favorite of mine. Great ambiance, service and food. This trip was no different. My itch however, was that they have stopped selling Lobster which was my go-to dish. In addition, they didn’t have my Pinot Noir choice but, we survived. The waiter was very good and the alternative choices we made were prepared perfectly and well presented.

I had the best dinner with my friends over the weekend! We went for my birthday celebration and I am so glad we went here. Our waiter, Rodney, was the best!!! He made us laugh and was so nice and helpful. Gandy dancer is always a such a great experience, but I will always remember that dinner forever.

It was our first time at the gandy dancer. It was good. The only thing I didn't care for was the rice. It was just ok. It has some really hard grains mixed in, either undercooked or over cooked. The salmon and crab cakes were wonderful. My husband Has the prime rib, it was delicious, but the au jus was served cold. The brie appetizer was amazing, and would definitely recommend!

I had an excellent meal at Gandy Dancer and loved the location by the old rail line and the river. The historic building was really cool, and the history card in the foyer gave a nice overview of the restaurant and what a "Gandy Dancer" really is. My meal was excellent - from the bread with salmon pate to the fish chowder, through my dessert of key lime pie, everything was great. My entree of scallop and shrimp risotto was excellent and my server Paul took great care of me. I would definitely recommend Gandy Dancer and would go back for sure!
