Gamefaqs Hunt of the Week 1: Mizutsune

Welcome to the official return of the Gamefaqs weekly hunting competition! This is where new speedrunners are born. Give it a try, you might be surprised how fast you can kill a monster just by focusing your practice on a single matchup for a few days even if you've never speedran before.

Our first target for this week will be Mizutsune in the following quest:
High Rank lv. 6 star: A Bewitching Dance

The rules are simple, you need to kill the target monster solo without using anything on the following banlist:

BANLIST

• Palamutes and Palicos
• Traps and Flash Bombs
• Dango Adrenaline (food skill) and Heroics (armor skill)
• Attacking the target monster using non-target monsters (launching them into the target is allowed, but not using their attacks)
• Switching weapons or restocking items mid-quest in Base Camp

Anything not banned is allowed including Bombs, Sonic Bombs, Endemic Life, Wyvern riding and unlimited wall bangs, siege weaponry etc.
For the Lava Caverns map specifically, Lava and Water Geysers will be banned as well but that is not relevant for this week.

To prove the validity of the run, either posting a video or the following screenshots will be accepted:

Interesting. Never did this kind of hunting, but might give it a try. Can we have the palamute with us just to get to the mob and use the Wait! command or is reaching the target with no aid also part of the rules?

Yes, Palamutes are banned completely for travel as well because there is no way for me to verify if they really were set to wait for the whole run or just at the end for the screenshot.
With warping and Wirebugs, you can reach the monster almost as fast or sometimes even faster than using the Palamute, so they are not really needed for travel.

Yeah, I thought so, but I imagined the possibility of one recording a video to show that the Wait function was used, but that would be unfair to whomever cannot record so I think it is easier this way.

Yes, as long as they are not traps or flash bombs, all items are allowed.

Could have done better, but that'll do for now.

Hahaha, it's super early here in Brazil and I just woke up, but even then I went for a try with the set I already was wearing, full Val, and man did those healing bubbles ruin it lol. Set will be a no no for this.

Nice, a SA run. That weapon will have some good competition around here. Was that the Zinogre SA with Anti-Aquatic species ramp-up?

Yeah, if you're using Valstrax armor, those green bubbles become the most dangerous ones instead of being helpful.
