Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
It was a small video game store where I came in contact with customers of all kinds on a daily basis. and enjoyed my interactions very much. customers would even call me daily with questions even sometimes just to converse about certain items.

Fun and Busy

Worked long hours as the only person on staff for months. Was still very fun and challenging for me. I enjoyed the responsibility of working here as assistant manager.

A starter job

This was one of the first jobs I ever had, helped me through college, but sticking around for a career was never going to be the motto. I stuck around only because of the relationships I forged. Other than that, it was just job.

Fun environment

A video game store is what you expected 20 years ago. Basically we sold and bought video games. Talked about video games and played video games.

I hated this job

I felt like I was treated unfair due to the fact that I never got a break and when I had to use the bathroom the supervisor will tell the manager that I was sneaking breaks into the back room and he wanted to make sure peoples belongings was safe, which I felt like this was a little races. We had to call in every Sunday to see if we work the up coming week and I called like twice on Sunday and the supervisor is the one I spoke to and he told me that I was not put down to work the up coming week and to call back on Monday so I did and once again he told me that I was not down to work. I then got a call from the manager that Tuesday and he ask me where I was on Sunday and Monday and I told him what had happened he told me that I was no longer able to work there because I didn't come in the two days I had work. Before this happen I never missed a day of work and I had to work my shift and this other lady shift because she didn't come in for work four days in a role and when she do come in the supervisor never got on her even when I had to take on her shift when she was there because she was allowed to take longer breaks and I never got a break until two days before I was let go the manager was there and he gave me a break.

Great job with great management

The store had a consistent management and even though they asked for a lot they knew how to balance work/fun. Everybody in the store worked well together and we also had a small costumer base that would come in and chat with us. The store actually gained some praise by selling the second most subscriptions in the whole U.S.

Pros

staff and costumers
