Flora Tanielian
September 22, 1928 – January 18, 2023
Fresno, California – Flora Torigian Tanielian was born on September 22, 1928, to Kazar & Ana Torigian in Fresno, California. She entered eternal rest on January 18th, 2023. Flora was the first born. Siblings Elizabeth, Vernon & Marshall later joined the family. Flora grew up in Armenian Town, making many lifelong friends, including Lucille Gahvejian. A friendship that spanned 85 years.
In 1945, Flora graduated from Fresno Technical High School & went to work at the Bank of America on the Fulton Mall. Flora was very active in Holy Trinity Church. She was a member of the choir & in her later years The Trinity Guild. She was a member of the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF). Flora met her future husband, Harry Tanielian at an AYF dance. After Harry was drafted, they corresponded via letters until Harry returned from the Korean War.
They married in 1954. Two years later Flora would give birth to the couple’s only child, Jeff. Flora & Harry were the proud proprietors of Cedar Olive Liquor, then later Mr. T’s liquor. Even though Flora worked full time, she always put her family first. She was a Boy Scout Den mother, an avid booster of Kerman Kart Club, she actively supported any other endeavors her beloved son Jeff participated in. Flora was also very involved in the life of her niece & nephews Tracy, Mark & Matthew. Flora worked in the store alongside her husband until they eventually sold the business & retired in 1994.
Flora’s retirement years were idyllic. Flora and Harry got to build their dream home and spend lots of time with their grandchildren Andromeda and Arlen. Flora would regularly get together with her girlfriends from Armenian Town & remained active in Holy Trinity. Flora loved hosting. Every Wednesday night she hosted family dinner with her immediate family, sitting down and eating a meal as a family was very important to Flora.
Flora was a graceful, classy & strong woman. Family was everything to Flora, she always went above & beyond for family. Flora left behind a wonderful legacy. She will be dearly missed.
Flora was preceded in death by her husband Harry & their son Jeff. She is survived by her grandchildren Arlen Tanielian & his wife Suzann, Andromeda Tanielian & her husband Gonzalo Padilla, two great grandchildren Quinn J. Tanielian & Stetson Padilla Tanielian, her brother Marshall Torigian & his wife Helen, her niece, Tracy Torigian Bright & her husband Joel, nephews Mark Torigian & his wife Linda & Matthew Torigian, great niece & nephew Georgia & Spencer Bright & many beloved friends.
The Tanielian Family would like to thank the California Armenian Home for their exceptional care.
