In October of 1960, those legendary personalities at WXYZ introduced a new musical entertainment extravaganza to the airways, they phrased as, "Sound-tacular!"
Covering two consecutive days going around-the-clock, WXYZ played the top 550 records from the past 5 years, 1955-1960. It became so popular the station promoted a repeat performance for November. As this Detroit Free Press ad indicated, published Wednesday, November 9, 1960.
