Fraser, Michigan, in Macomb county, is 4 miles NW of St. Clair Shores, Michigan and 15 miles N of Detroit, Michigan. It is part of the surrounding Detroit metro area.

Fraser History

Fraser began as a crossroads community that grew into a village around 1851. Later on, the village was named after Alexander J. Frazer, who visited the area in 1858 and purchased land here. In 1860, Fraser was renamed McPhersonville. However, the name was changed back to Fraser in 1863. It was incorporated as a village in 1894, and was reincorporated as a city in 1956.

Things To Do In Fraser

Fraser includes a number of parks and playgrounds, including the Steffens Park, McKinley Park, Boris Park and Meadows Park. Apart from its beautiful trail, Harringon Park also features a baseball field, a soccer complex and picnic tables. The Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Greektown and the Cranbrook House are also close to the city.
